  • Heroes UK/Eurpoe showings (spoilers)

Since the US edition of heoroes is about 10 to 12 episodes ahead of what we're seeing on this side of the pond I thought I'd start a UKJ.European eidtion of the thread. Sci-fi Uk started showing heroes on Monday and will have shown at least the first two eps by this evening. I'd like to try and keep the spoiler level there for those who've not seen past that.
Although I have seen the first 4 eps I stopped downloading shows a while ago that were still on (Like to support them and want more madE).
So, first tow eps, what do people think? I'm going to make a brave (or perhaps suicidal here) statement and say this show is as good as (or possibly better than B5.

"There are no good wars. War is always the worst possible way to resolve differences. It degenerates and corrupts both sides to ever more sordid levels of existence, in their need to gain an advantage over the enemy. Those actively involved in combat are almost always damaged goods for the rest of their lives. If their bodies don't bear scars, their minds do, ofttimes both. Many have said it before, but it can't be said to enough, war is hell. "

Hmmm ... I would be prepared to go as far as to agree that the first two episodes were certainly as strong as B5's first two, but it would be a massive leap to describe Heroes as an overall better show than B5 after just those two hours.

Through the first and most of the second seasons, I believed that BSG was a better show than B5, but as the third progresses I no longer think that is the case.

I am looking forward to where Heroes goes (been avoiding all the spoilers so far, which is unlike me), but the true test of this show will not take place until the initial "discovery of powers" phase is concluded, and we get and idea of where the story is going to take us then.

The show is starting tonight on Belgian TV. Is it really worth watching?

I like it a lot. Good, complex characters that regularly surprise me and action that moves foreward with every episode. The only thing I have to keep reminding myself of is that it's a video comic book so my suspension of disbelief has to be set pretty high.

I've dropped pretty much everything else I was watching (Lost, BSG, Jericho) but this one keeps me coming back.

watched episode 5 last night (which I'd not seen previously).
wow! more interconnections between characters and of course the line"save the cheerleader, save the world".
I hear season 2 (providing there is one) will feature different heroes.

I'll try not to spoil anything, but I guess "that's right" (To the question of other heroes) is not much of a spoiler, is it?

And one thing I want from my personal experience to share... at the switch from Season 1 to Season 2 I experienced a little bit of a "what happened, the prior episodes where better". But then it again started out and now I am sitting in the rollercoaster and wait for the next episode... Get through the first episodes of Season 2, it's worth it in the end (I think at the moment).

And yes, it's a "video comic book". I can live with that, if it is good storytelling... and if there are still flaws to the characters (which might belong into "good storytelling"). And I really like the bunch described, they are quite different and - in their "comic book world" - believable... (IMHO)

There hasn't been a season 2 of Heroes yet.

                      There it is... "Winter Break":

The show is on Winter Break at the moment, and NBC has our heroes scheduled to return on January 22, 2007 in the U.S. Stay tuned, we know so...

But it could well be that this break doesn't happen in the european broadcast...

Most likely that will be the case. Similar to SG-1 running straight in the UK and us here in the US have a 10 week break or so.
