hey omaha, was listening to the B5 podcast live feed yesterday and they interviewed your fave ISN anchor.

"There are no good wars. War is always the worst possible way to resolve differences. It degenerates and corrupts both sides to ever more sordid levels of existence, in their need to gain an advantage over the enemy. Those actively involved in combat are almost always damaged goods for the rest of their lives. If their bodies don't bear scars, their minds do, ofttimes both. Many have said it before, but it can't be said to enough, war is hell. "
I have no idea why "book season" is the summer. About 4 series (as of today)I try to follow all come out in July, and now is the time I want to curl up inside, well away from NY wind chills. Crazy.

Did they talk about me when interviewing her? And did you record the live feed?
How fabulous was she?

Harry Potter book 7 will be released on Saturday July 21. Just announced today ...
I'm so there.
Good to know. I will be spoiling it for everyone on July 22. Whether you want it spoiled or not.

Dunno about the others but in the case of HP it's just due to the fact that on the very same date ten years ago the first book came out, if I remember what was said on the radio yesterday correctly.
Come to think of it, maybe it's because publishers think that during summertime while people lay on the beaches or in the gardens to catch some tan they'd want to read a good book.

It's winter somewhere.

Recently, there was a reckoning. It occurred on November 4, 2014 across the United States. Voters, recognizing the failures of the current leadership and fearing their unchecked abuses of power, elected another party as the new majority. This is a first step toward preventing more damage and undoing some of the damage already done. Hopefully, this is as much as will be required.
well lets see.
HP - summer
jonathan kellerman - floats between oct and feb
anne mccaffrey - about 1 every 4 months or so
elizabeth moon - (arc in the fall) released in winter
robin cook - all over the place
david weber - all over the place
stephen baxter - all over the place but does tend to be spring/summer
robert jordan - all over the place
When is Robert Jordan going to finish that book series of his. Because I REFUSE to start reading it until it's complete.

He's going to finish it immediately after it stops being a cash cow and enough people realize he hasn't advance the plot in three books.
First off Mr. Jordan said that it would be 13 books shortly after the last book was released. Secondly, he was diagnosed with amyloidosis in march of last year and has been going back and forth to the Mayo Clinic for Chemotherapy through out this past year. So let's cut the guy a bit of slack
I'll cut the guy some slack, but I'm not cutting the books any. When that series started it was outstanding. The first four were some of the best I've read, period. The rest were utter garbage with brief moments of old glory. Jordan's Wheel of Time is probably the best example I've ever seen of ungodly wasted potential, even outrunning Tad Williams.
I hope the guy gets better, truly. I'd really like him to write something great again.
