going to london next week

hey i'm taking a vacation (alone) in london next week
i'll be staying at the holiday inn at kings cross
i expect to spend about 2 days wondering thru the british musem, prob take in a play maybe 2, i want to do the standard tourist thing (crown jewls, tower) but i thought i'd get some opinions as to what else i might like to do, 5 days isn't a long time and i expect i won't get to nearly all i would want, but toss me a line. what should the boy from new york look for in london?
(i expect no trouble with the subway and buses plus walking, manhatten is easy so this should also be easy)(yes i know that brits speak diffrently, tube, loo, etc)

If you like him try the Dali museum.
Also the Camden Markets are worth a visit IMO.

You should definitly go to a pub... better still: to differnet pubs. They are something I haven't found in Austria, Germany, Italy, Hungary, Tunesia or France (the countries I have been). I use every visit in England to go to a pub. Thou I am no Guinnes man, I prefer Cider (I can see a lot of dissapointed faces now *g*).
If you like to experiment try the food there, strange but exciting *gg* (I don't want to hurt any english reader, I'd guess austrian food with its abundance of sugar and fat is also "experimental" for foreigners *g*)

There are lots of (irish) pubs in Germany, though I have to admit that the flair is hardly the same as over in Britain.
As is the Guinness, which is why I prefer Cider too.

But back on topic... Also indian restaurants are worth a visit if you're into spicy food.

Camden Markets, definitely -- if you have a spare suitcase, bring it along empty and buy lots of Doc Martens in London and bring them back here to sell! (They're quite a bit cheaper over there.)

Any chance you'd want to rent a car? Stonehenge isn't that far a drive from London, and it's a pretty cool sight to see. Make sure you have enough time to buy a ticket to walk into the site, though -- the view from the fence at the road is rather distant.

If you want to go the Stonehenge it may be better to take a coach trip.

i was planning on looking into stonehenge my understanding is that i can get on an early morning tour that lets you get into the site and walk around it
