There are lots of places like amazon.com or yahoo auctions, but in my expereince EBAY gives you the highest price.

Follow up: I just ordered Star Blazers from deepdiscountdvd...now my next question. Is there a place where I can sell my pristine DVD sets that I no longer want for a good price? Aside from eBay, that is.

It sounds like you're on season 2? Things pick up in season 3 with the Dominion, and season 4 introduces the Klingon War.

I'm not sure why you don't like DS9. Even without the arc, there are LOTS of good stand-alone sci-fi stories..... even better than TNG made. More character-oriented. Better writing. More "there's no good solution...either choice is bad"-type stories.

Maybe you should stop looking for the "big story" and just concentrate on enjoying each episode for its own merits. DS9 was and still is my #2 favorite sci-fi series:

    1 Babylon 5
2 Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
    3 Stargate

And Season 2 was great. Not as good as B5's Season 2, but still great. The three-part opener, Paradise and The Wire come to mind right off the bat.

I find I don't care about the Bajorans, their religion, the conflicts on the station and I've been watching every day since Spike started airing them thinking-will it get better? I do like the Cardasians as a race-great makeup.

Thing is, it's not bad at all, I just feel I'm watching Average Joe in space or something. On the other hand, I'm told by every DS9 fan that the last 2 seasons rock, so maybe I'll reserve judgement til then. I'll keep watching!

    My list:
    FarScape
    B5 (after season 1)
    UFO (Gerry Anderson 70s show)
    NextGen (after season 2)
    Original Trek
    Enterprise (last season!)
    Voyager (after season 1)

In itself, it is certainly a cop-out. But in context of the series' ongoing storyline, it is great.
Even in the context of the DS9 series, I consider it a copout. I want to see *humans* solving their problems, not aliens.

That's why I liked the Shadow War's end: It was Sheridan who solved the mystery of the Shadows/Vorlons, planned a way to reveal the secret, and then executed it. It was purely a HUMAN solution.

That's one bad thing about buying stuff online...you can't "make a scene" like you can at Wal-Mart or Target to get an exchange or refund. In all seriousness, Wal-Mart is great about exchanges and returns.

I'm not sure about why the prices are so diverse, but I've ordered from DeepDiscountDVD, Amazon, and Overstock for years and the sets I've received looked absolutely pristine. If they're selling used sets I darn sure can't tell. Although DeepDiscount recently merged with another vendor and their shipping speeds aren't what they were before. But I would NOT do business with DVDSoon. Read their customer reviews and you'll see why. And I can tell you, the vendors I usually deal with have never given me any problems returning items when there was a need.

Sweet, BTD. I found something similar, too, but I was skeptical. Why is it that low? And why would they be ranked low? For posing used DVD's as new or something?

Check out dvdpricesearch.com - they list it around $95 with free shipping. But be careful and note the customer reviews of the vendor before ordering, I wouldn't recomend any seller with less than 3 stars.

Whoa! They've raised prices on all of DS9 and all of B5 save for the fifth season. I guess the early bird catches the worm, eh. Hey, I sounded Canadian. Hoser.

jolty, all DVD sets are cheaper at amazon.com. I don't know why people complain about retail prices. I got all of my DS9 and B5 at amazon or Wal-Mart (except for B5 S2 -- Best Buy) and I got them for way cheap. I paid about $105 AFTER TAXES for DS9 eps at Wal-Mart and like $73 or so for B5.

Come this Fall, people will be getting screwed when they buy the Star Wars Trilogy on DVD for retail price while you can literally steal it from amazon. You have to be a fiscalist. I even buy my shoes on amazon sometimes.

Yeah I've been checking them out on Spike TV although it's not always real convient for me to watch. I'll more then likely get them on DVD one day but they got to bring down the price they are just ripping off the hardcore Star Trek fans out there. They know the hardcore fans will buy them wheather they can really afford them or not. I mean $120 bucks a season at Best Buy and Suncoast? The people at Paramounts DVD division must be real swine. And for all that money they can't even give us commentaries from cast and directors? Yes it's safe to say this is one purchase I can put off for some time.

You know as far as DS9 goes it's kind of lucky I got into it before B5 because I'm not sure I could have enjoyed it all that much knowing just how much it stole from B5. If I wanted to know what would happen in on DS9 I'll I had to do was watch what happened on B5 two years back. If B5 got a war arc soon Ds9 would get a war arch ,Sherriden disappears in the finial episode of B5 to be taken away to some higher life forms, Sisko disapears to be taken away by higher life forms two years later. If the goofy guy Vir is shown to be Emperor in the finial episode. Then Quarks brother must be shown to be Grand Nagus in the finial episode. It's really pretty shameless. Bureau 13 if you reverse the number and put it on DS9 two years later becomes section 31.

I still enjoy DS9 but not as much as I used too seeing how painfully derivitive it often is.

That said it's still one of my favorite sci-fi shows. My all time favorites are as follows.

    1.Babylon 5
2.Firefly(I'm so glad they've started shooting the movie U.S. release date is April 22,2005)
    3.Star Trek(original)
    4.Doctor Who
    5.Farscape
    6.Blakes'7
    7.The Prisoner
    8.Red Dwarf
9.Battlestar Galactica (I just got the DVD box set aside from some seriously weak moments it's actually quite good I was suprised that it actually has a rather interesting story arch building,I never realised it had one.Too bad no season 2 was made might have been interesting.)
    10.Deep Space Nine
    11.Crusade
    12. Space 1999
    13.Voyager
14.Buck Rogers in the 25th Century

And if I didn't mention it here it's not a favorite I might like it but not a favorite.

    Hilarious, Spoo Rancher.

If you are cheap, like moi, SpikeTV is showing DS9 now....I missed most of DS9 when it orginally aired, but I didn't catch it when they started showing it again...I'll probably wait until it cycles through....they are showing it 7 days a week.

Gotta love RePlayTv......digital video recorder....especially when you win them...ehehehehhe.....
