Threads might not show after a certain amount of time but they're not gone. All you have to do either change the display for a forum by scrolling down to the bottom of the list of threads and change the display criteria for a one-time look or you can change it for all forums in your User CP (upper left side of your screen).

Honestly, I consider it to be a crying shame that the Hubble telescope mission, something that gave us so much more insight into the universe and holds the potential to keep doing so for years, will be discontinued due to the lack of funding while billions are thrown out for new weaponry.
