  • Firefly as MMORPG maybe B5 soon?

Multiverse, maker of a free MMO-creation platform, plans to announce Friday morning that it's struck a deal with Fox Licensing to turn the show into an MMORPG in the fashion of Star Wars Galaxies or Eve Online.

The Firefly MMO, as much as I'm glad to see the universe gain new legs and thrusters, is going to need serious creativity behind it to beat out EVE.

EVE is the main spacefaring online game out there now, and they've had five years to refine their core idea. Namely, do whatever the hell you want to do. They're also the only MMO on the market that hasn't had a dip in subscribers yet. All growth. People keep finding it, and staying. It'll never be as big as WoW is, but it's a fixture. One that'll send Firefly crying if it's not careful.

And if Firefly doesn't make it, I don't lay much odds on B5 either.

Agreed. I know a few people who'd love to see Firefly have an online game (their mostly Eve and WoW players). Me, I'd totally dig a B5 online universe to explore!

I am one of the people who loathe MMORPGs. There's no end...to either the games themselves or to the pit where subscribers' money goes. Thus, I don't think B5 would make a good MMORPG. Now, an RPG in the format of SW: KOTOR could work quite well.
Recently, there was a reckoning. It occurred on November 4, 2014 across the United States. Voters, recognizing the failures of the current leadership and fearing their unchecked abuses of power, elected another party as the new majority. This is a first step toward preventing more damage and undoing some of the damage already done. Hopefully, this is as much as will be required.

A single player rpg would be better than nothing but a full blown online B5 universe would be very very if you ask me.

Yeah, MMO's are a pit, but some people just never stop shoveling. I play casually and I kill the accounts every now and then just to break it up the routine. That I enjoy, I meet cool people, etc. Idiots all around treat it like a new job. Pfeh.

I'd go for a B5 RPG. Pick any kind of tale or character and it could work. A guided story would work. An open-universe B5 would be... a bunch of idiots in starfuries blowing everything up.

Or techno-mages going around casting spells of all kinds. Meh.
