what hobbies and obsessions do we as a comunity have? are we the regular everyday person who just happens to be obseesed with b5 and other jms items or are we diffrent then the normal everyday person

Personally i am fairly obsessed with a Collectible card game called magic the gathering and have been for about 13 years now, its like a cross of chess and d&d played with cards

i also collect knives and swords (current favorite a Bugei Dragonfly 10" Tsuka, 27" Blade)

i ave found recently that i rather enjoy fonding all the old cartoons from my childhood and rewatching them, i have worked thru thundercats, he-man, she-ra, g.i.joe, transformers, and am now working on conan the adventuerer

i am also obseesed with Doctor Who both past and current
and of course my books, i love to read as much as i can, infact i just managed to secure an ARC of the new elizabeth moon vatta's war book that won't be out till the end of feb

well thats it for me for now(i think)
how about the rest of ya'll?

I, too, have liked Magic The Gathering at one point in my life (back from Revised to Mirage). I'm still juiced knowing that the very first Magic deck that I ever bought had a Shivan Dragon in it. I had a dude at school back in the day trying to get me to trade him my Shivan Dragon for like fifteen cards he had. I'm like, "Uh, no!" I also early on got a Millstone and a Serra Angel, both of which I like. But haven't collected or played for a LONG time now.

As for my current hobbies. In the cartoon world, I LOVE both Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends, which is hillarious, and Avatar The Last Airbender, which has some good humor in it and is also very epic!. I also like the idea of writing, but I keep seeing everything I write as being crap (I'm so hyper-judgemental toward myself). I love music (particulary soundtracks and semi-punkish/emo stuff), watching tv (Heroes, Gilmore Girls, Veronica Mars, Lost, Avatar The Last Airbender, Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends, and Battlestar Galactica), movies, etc. And that's about it for now.

I used to be very into magic, as well as other card games like the Star Trek one and the Star Wars one. They all became too complicated and ruined the fun of it, in my opinion so I dropped it a long time ago.

Currently, I just watch every sci-fi show I can get my hands on, play x-box 360 and read comic books. I don't think I'd have much time for another obsession

Don't let Vyce post in this thread!
Recently, there was a reckoning. It occurred on November 4, 2014 across the United States. Voters, recognizing the failures of the current leadership and fearing their unchecked abuses of power, elected another party as the new majority. This is a first step toward preventing more damage and undoing some of the damage already done. Hopefully, this is as much as will be required.

most;ly sci-fi related. I'd (almost) rather watch bad sci-fi than good drama (although that is changing as I age). I'm an IT nut and love all technology - keep picking up gadgets. I read obsessively and get paraniod if I don't have at least some book sto hand when going somewhere (unless I'm driving obviously).
I podcast (a relatively recent thing) and listen to other poeple's casts too.
I could say that I study obsessively - I've completed one degreee, am halfway through a second and plan to go on to a Doctorate in something horribly complicated involving both.

"There are no good wars. War is always the worst possible way to resolve differences. It degenerates and corrupts both sides to ever more sordid levels of existence, in their need to gain an advantage over the enemy. Those actively involved in combat are almost always damaged goods for the rest of their lives. If their bodies don't bear scars, their minds do, ofttimes both. Many have said it before, but it can't be said to enough, war is hell. "

Most states have their age of consent set at 16 or 17 (depending upon the genders). Plus, 18 and 19 is still "teenaged."

                      Fewer virgins, eh?

I have a couple of hobbies.

Reading - I have a shitload of books to get through:

2 Mickey Spillane collections: The Mike Hammer Collection Volume 1 (I the Jury, My Gun is Quick, Vengeance is Mine!) and The Mike Hammer Collection Volume 2 (One Lonely Night, The Big Kill and Kiss Me, Deadly)
The Complete Tales and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe
                            The Complete Sherlock Holmes
                            Taiko by Eiji Yoshikawa
House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski
The Plot against America by Philip Roth
The Secret Life of Houdini: The Making of America's First Superhero by William Kalush

And then there's the comic books I read annually:

Lone Wolf and Cub by Kazuo Koike and Goseki Kojima
Transmetropolitan by Warren Ellis and Darrick Robertson
Sandman by Neil Gaiman and an assortment of artists
Preacher by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon
Watchmen by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons
                            Akira by Katsuhiro Otomo
The Invisibles by Grant Morrison and an assortment of artists
                            Bone by Jeff Smith

And then an annual reading of the 5 book Hitchhiker's Trilogy by Douglas Adams, just so I can remind myself to never take life seriously.

And then there's video games - I've been playing them since 1982 and I have no intention of ever quitting them.

For PC- Deus Ex, System Shock, ZZT, Starcraft, Zdoom so I can keep playing Doom no matter how fast my computer gets, The Marathon trilogy by Bungie, and then an NES emulator with ROMS, a SNES emulator with ROMS, a Genesis emulator with ROMS, and a GameBoy Advance with ROMS.

For Xbox- about 40 some odd games

                            For the PS2- 6 games

                            For the PS1- 7 games

And I plan on getting a 360 since there are a few games for it that I want to play, plus one game that I have to play on the Live Arcade- Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
                            RIP Coach Larry Finch
Thank you Memphis Grizzlies for a great season.

Reading, video (zombifying) games, roughly anything with a story in it.

Beyond all that, I often pretend to learn to play piano.
