StarGate: SG1 Season 7 finale - spoilers

Alrighty ... Since colonyearth forgot to post this, I will ...

What did you think of the Season 7 finale, "The Lost City"?

I think it was the payoff for following 7 years ... We've got a new President ... Kinsey's in a position of real power and direct control over the StarGate program - and of course, when he gets power, he abuses it, which comes back to bite him in the ass ...

We've got direct evidence of Atlantis being on Earth the whole time, and then suddenly ... "boom" ... Anubis is destroyed (we assume), as is his whole fleet ... major cities are attacked, and now the whole world is going to know aliens really are out there.

And that damned cliffhanger .... I can't wait for next season! Argh!

Having only followed for the past year or two (ie. it's time on SciFi) and only fitfully at that, it still was a good blast.

If anything, I thought everything wrapped a little too neatly. Anubis (presumably) dead, Kinsey goes off his rocker and is (presumably) exposed for the ass he is, Atlantis will (presumably) be found in time to launch the spinoff, and there's only two real things left. What about Jack, and what about the new boss? And since the civvy diplomatic chick is already working out well (stopping the nuke at the gate, standing up to Kinsey), that's kind of a no-brainer too.

Actually, no, the secret is still hush hush. Go back through the ep - Anubis first hit a naval carrier group in the middle of the ocean, testing to see if Earth would strike back with any Big Big Guns. He was about to launch the first wave when SG-1 showed up, and the battle was quickly shifted to Antarctica. Nothing public was attacked, and I'm sure swamp-gas-Venus excuses were quickly circulated for the light show.

And I still don't get the whole Anubis thing... sure, he got blowed up real good, but it's never really said whether he's physical or not... being all ethereal and darkly ghostly and all I'm sure he'll rise again, like all bad vampires do.

I like the prez though. Looks and acts daft, but a bit of a hoot.

No, really, go back and watch it again ... In the Oval Office, they talk about Anubis's forces attacking major cities, eliminating communications and power sources ... It's not just the two targets, it's (possibly) hundreds.

To clarify on this point, you're both right to an extent. They do talk about a high level of destruction around the world but that they're blaming it on a meteor shower. It's convenient that the only place ships actually enter the atmospere is in Antartica, therefore, helping in keeping the cover story since no one would ever actually see anything but big honkin' balls of light coming down out of the atmosphere.

As to whether Anubis is dead...this is meant to be left ambigous on purpose...and the wrap-up is a bit quick you might say, but the story actually stretches over the two part finalle, the S8 premiere of SG-1 and the two hour premiere of SGA...so it's really about a 4.5 - 5 hour long story arc that will eventually set up and launch the new series. Also, it might be interesting to note here that they weren't sure until the beginning of this year I think whether or not there would be a S8 of SG-1...so consider that and the fact that the two part finalle was, in part, the feature film script for an SG-1 movie, when you look at the pacing and such for Lost City 1&2.

Personally, I think it rocked...and I can't wait until both shows premiere! And SGA is looking better and better.

And the new Major is HOT I think. Yes, the guy, played by Flannigan...Major Sheppard. YUM!

And for anyone who reads this thread and hasn't been watching SG-1 or quit watching it...I highly recommend you join Netflix and start to rentin' what seasons you 've missed...I personally own them all up to S6, which is all that's out so far.

This is one of the best SF shows ever made...a great show for character and that wonderful sense of the cast as family and a team. They feel like they're really the people and close friends you see and because of that you feel like they're your friends too.

If you've only seen S1...then catch up...cause they got better and better after that. The cast and crew have a blast on the set and love what they're doing...and it comes through in the product. This show is irreverent tongue in cheek with action, excitement, and some great drama and wonderful SFX. Also, the DVD's, starting with S4 have some of the best commentaries I've ever seen...they're fun and informative and are as entertaining as the show itself...especially Peter DeLuise's. I wish more commentaries were like these...and they're on every episode.

I'm a very discerning SF watcher and this show has rarely if ever left me feeling like it didn't consistantly deliver that Je n'c'est pas that just says this show is great.

I wholeheartedly agree.

I first caught an episode or two on Showtime, then bought the S1 pilot DVD. I then started watching it more on Sci-Fi.

If you wanna check the show out, you have 6-7 pm EST every weekday, then 4 eps on monday from 7-11 EST. New shows/repeats of current season are on friday night. This is Sci-Fi channel.

I ended up buying all the Season DVD sets. They are fairly cheap, look online, and also check used DVD stores, also CostCo and Sams Club.

Anyways, I love this show, I love the characters, the sarcasm, the acting, the writing is pretty good, and I love the tie-ins to the various ancient pantheons.
