On Saturday, I'll be participating in the sixth Blogathon. It's a 'thon in which the participants will post at least one Journal/Blog entry every half hour for a solid 24 hours. Sponsors will then donate on a per-hour rate, or for the whole thing.
In my case, I'm blogging for the KittiCo Cat Rescue. They are dedicated to reuniting cats with the families who lost them due to Katrina. They are also a no-kill animal shelter, which means they constantly need money for food and medicine.
Any amount you could pledge will help - Even just 25 cents will provide food for a day.
How it works:
If you choose to sponsor, you'll sign up here, my page on Blogathon.org. You'll get an email confirmation back. Then, after the 'thon ends on Sunday, you'll get an email with instructions on how to send in a check or money order (you'll send it directly to KittiCo) or a url to donate online with a credit card.
I don't handle any of the money, nor do the folks at the blogathon. It's all pledge-based. You should receive a total of three emails. The first is the confirmation that you've pledge. The second would be after the 'thon ends on Sunday, and then a month later, a third email reminder. (most folks who sponsor don't send in a check or money order until a few weeks or even a month after the blogathon. no worries)
And you can follow my progress on my blog.
If you can help, great! I thank you, and the kitties thank you. If you can't, maybe next year!
For my schtick, I'll be going through lots of Lilo and Stitch. Each episode is about 21 minutes long, so one episode plus a review will be right about 30 minutes ... meaning 48 episodes in one day. Woah .. I'll be overloaded and tired the next day, that's for sure!
If you've seen the original Lilo and Stitch movie, you'll remember Lilo met Stitch when she went to the animal shelter with her big sister, looking for a "sturdy dog" ... so there's a tie in there!
My goal was to get $20 in pledges. I'm at just over $202 right now! Yay!
