The classic statement of this position can be found in The Federalist, which argued that federalism helps enshrine the principle of due process, limiting arbitrary action by the state. First, federalism can limit government power to infringe rights, since it creates the possibility that a legislature wishing to restrict liberties will lack the constitutional power, while the level of government that possesses the power lacks the desire. Second, the legalistic decision making processes of federal systems limit the speed with which governments can act.
So yes, the government supports the rights of individuals to choose for themselves

He filled the envelope with his old lures that were rusty, caked with fish guts and/or seaweed, or were basically old and broken. He included a note that read "Your party is sinking. This might help you on your way. Sincerely, Jerry Doyle". He taped it up and mailed it.

The thing is, guys, as low as Bush and the GOP-controlled Congress are in approval ratings, Democrats are even lower. I've listened quite a bit to Jerry's show -- especially when JBL guest hosts -- and I think he tries too much to be a "maverick Republican." It's really not conducive for him to do what he supposedly did with the letter. Conservative publications such as National Review have been ripping the GOP a new asshole...but in a constructive way.

In short...just because the GOP isn't doing as good as it can or should doesn't mean people will vote Democrat.
Recently, there was a reckoning. It occurred on November 4, 2014 across the United States. Voters, recognizing the failures of the current leadership and fearing their unchecked abuses of power, elected another party as the new majority. This is a first step toward preventing more damage and undoing some of the damage already done. Hopefully, this is as much as will be required.

      • Wait, does JBL guest host for Jerry Doyle? Hot damn. Is his show broadcast on satellite?

          • Vyce, just go to the website of any radio station across the country and listen online.

I get this station on clear nights, but if not, I just go to their website:

I like him because I agree with him on some things, because it's just common sense. Plus the fact that he's not a shill for any political party.

I have no regard for shills/mouthpieces/party bitches.

At the Rick Biggs memorial event last year, I helped out at Jerry Doyle and Stephen Furst's autograph table. Several people asked him about any future plans for running for office and he was plain that he had none at all. Even though he was trying to be on his best behavior that day, it was evident that he was pretty bitter about his experience a few years ago.

                • I found it here in D.C., on a small little AM station. My big, expensive stereo system couldn't pick it up for shit, but my tiny little clock radio picks it up fine, although there's a little static in the background now and then.

So far on today's show, he's been bitching about illegal aliens.

                        • I think it's time we applaud Ayaan Hirsi Ali, basically driven out of Denmark due to the cowardice of the left there and the utter moral bankruptcy of her own political party. A woman who lost a case where her neighbors sought to have her evicted because they didn't feel safe because she received a death threat due to her criticisms of Islam. A woman who, while trying to save women from Islam, was the victim of the most bizarre turnaround of multiculturalism I've ever seen.

She is a great and one of the most courageous women in the world. And she's coming to the US, making this country all the better for it.

                          Welcome aboard, Ayaan.

There was a news story about it on RTE (Irish NAtional Broadcaster) last night, if I can dig up a link I'll post it later.

                            • So what I don't get is why there's an uproar *now* over her having lied in 1992 when all the articals I read admit that she's been open about that for quite some time-years, not months. Though, having spent a decade out of Somalia before going to Holland does detract from the image of a refugee considerably.

couldn't say truth be told, the whole thing strikes me as a "let's fill the front pages with something and distract people from important stuff, like the genocide in Darfur" sort of apporach. Pushes things that are politically uncomfortable for those in power off the front page and keeps the public happy, queit and ignorant.
