  • That one's way too old for me to get upset about now, I'm afraid. It's a good reminder that one should always find out the privacy policies of anybody you're giving personal info to, though.

    • Thanks Jan, that's the piece of the puzzle I was missing.

      • I just posted the link since I found it funny. It wouldn't surprise me if the military gets involved in the birth process. Right when the kid pops out, the kid gets information about each branch of the service

        • Why not go back at bit? What does the average B5-fan think about cloning?
Come to think of it; there never was any mention of clones or cloning in B5 was there?

The other day upon the stairs
I saw the man who wasn't there
                      He wasn't there again today
                      I think he's from the C.I.A.

This is regardless of any school policy regarding recruitment by anyone. It's not a matter of explaining, it's basically coercion by the federal government.

There are several different problems. I just went for the one with no honourable excuse.

If you take money from the government it owns you.

If every year the school has one day in which they invite the local firms round to meet the children then preventing the military from sending a representative is wrong.

Can I just ask, why is every possible bad thing made a phsyical defect with you? Just a trend I've noticed.

remember the stories about the problems we were having resupplying the troops? Lies
I have heard, personally, from soldiers who reported multiple supply problems and from soldiers who never lacked for any little thing. So keep some perspective.

Regarding the school recruiting, I haven't noticed any hugely bad thing to having them on campus. I was in a JROTC program, and it did nothing but good in this area. Yeah, it does suck with the current situation that what might be a good thing will later turn into tragedy. In most here's opinon, useless and wrong tragedy. I think there's other ways to get around that then kicking the recruiters out.

There ya go. Funny how Mike felt that it would need explaining, which it apparently did.

I remember those reports. The media wanted to make it look like it was HUGE systematic failure, when it clearly wasn't. Whatever supply problems there were can be chalked up to rare but unfortunate normalcies.
Recently, there was a reckoning. It occurred on November 4, 2014 across the United States. Voters, recognizing the failures of the current leadership and fearing their unchecked abuses of power, elected another party as the new majority. This is a first step toward preventing more damage and undoing some of the damage already done. Hopefully, this is as much as will be required.

                              • If what we are doing in Iraq had no problems as to excess, and everything we did was legitimate and proper, then we should have absolutely no difficulty at all refuting the broadcasts on Al-Jazeera showing piles of dead bodies (attributed to American attacks) and pictures running nearly 24-7 of the "correct and proper" treatment of "detainees" at Abu Ghraib. Right?

Well, the point I have been trying to make is this. We, who ran into Iraq with guns blazing in order to depose a tyrant (yes, Saddam Hussein WAS a tyrant, I have never denied that) have now, in the eyes of much of the Islamic world, BECOME the new tyrant. We have, attributed to us, complete with photographic evidence provided by our own soldiers (thank you ever so much, PFC England - sarcastic, btw) fodder for those who want to convince the world, or at least the Islamic world, that we are the bad guys. They are now recruiting people to work against us no longer based on our "alliance" with Israel (who I know that over the past 50 years we have restrained rather than urged on) but in order to "avenge" the behavior of the "occupying Army".

We did, by refusing to maintain the moral high ground, more to harm our cause in the war on terrorism than any but the terrorists themselves. We had a definite plan for deposing Hussein. GREAT! We had no plan for winning the peace after the war. BAD IDEA! We have given our enemies fodder to use against us in recruitment. WORSE IDEA!

Dismiss me as a "commie-pinko-leftist-satanist-tree-hugging-Greenpeace-ACLU" wacko if you must. The truth of the matter is I am instead a Disabled Veteran of the first Gulf War, a life member of the National Rifle Association, and would never consider joining Greenpeace or the ACLU. I am, however, adamantly opposed to the way the War in Iraq has gone, although I was supportive of the invasion initially. I will continue to believe that something has gone VERY wrong, and blame our leaders for it.

BTW, before you suggest that there is something "unpatriotic" about my ideas, go back and watch the early episodes from Babylon 5, Season 3. Watch the way that Nightwatch gets it's foot in the door, punishing everyone who speaks against the government. Think about how dangerous the behavior looked there, and consider what would happen were it to occur in this Country.
