    Hi Jan,

    No problem. But for the record and before I say anything else as a last 'controversial' statement;

I would call frequent postings that bear no substance, in which one claims things are so without any(I repeat; any) valid source or link, for which no sources or links are given when politely asked, and which basically say that Mr McCarthy was right, that the police or the US secret service would never do anything wrong so everybody who is apprehended or investigated by them must be wrong a Classical Example of conspiracy-talk. it also reeks of DoublePlusGood.

Also: as Zhd has frequently been less than civilized about Europe, the Antills and well, basically about everything outside the U.S.A. I think it is not just me being rude here. Please do not make me quote the examples of anti-european bigotry because the posting would get to be too long to read.

But of course I shall be the last one to p*ss off the mod(s)!

So 'nuff said from me. I shall let him continue with whatever's next.

    Cheers,

    TM.

    • TM, all I can do is offer up my own little piece of doublespeak on this one: There are ways to be rude that won't raise my Moderatorly hackles and ways that will.

In a thread like this, there's bound to be strong feelings and strong speech. To an extent, I consider the thread title to be fair warning to anybody reading it or posting in it. But it's up to the poster to refrain from terms that appear to have no other purpose than to be inflammatory and to refrain from commenting about posters, only their posts.

And it's my job to sometimes make judgment calls about it. Sometimes I'll mess up but I'd prefer to err on the side of free expression while not allowing things to go toxic. You folks have always been good about helping with that.

I mean, would you want to wear this hat???

        • Nice voter turnout in Iraq today, including a high percentage in Saddam's hometown.
IT'S NOT A REAL VOTE! THERE'S FRAUD AND, AND...IT'S JUST ILLEGITIMATE!

Recently, there was a reckoning. It occurred on November 4, 2014 across the United States. Voters, recognizing the failures of the current leadership and fearing their unchecked abuses of power, elected another party as the new majority. This is a first step toward preventing more damage and undoing some of the damage already done. Hopefully, this is as much as will be required.

          • You can look for the media to put the Toledo riot and this bogus story about some UN official claiming that US troops are starving Iraqi civilians on the forefront so that the Iraqi referendum doesn't get the news it deserves.

            • Wannabe Nazis tried to have a march and didn't- Nothing newsworthy about that. Since the real Nazis are either dead, or the few living ones are in wheelchairs with a oxygen tank, they pose no threat at all. The wannabe Nazis pose no threat at all and are purely comedy relief. Watch "The Blues Brothers", specifically the Illinois Nazi march.

Some people are starving in a country- I've lost count as to how many times I've seen stuff like this, from those annoying commercials with Sally Struthers to a few second clips from Pat Robertson's crazy show. Again, nothing newsworthy.

Iraqi referendum- I'll vote for the Mad Arab, Abdul Alhazred

              • Well, the New Socialist Party, where these particular Neo-Nazis are from, is trying to ignite their movement in Ohio, a state famous for its worker unions. Such groups were the source of the Nazi Party's support.

To be completely frank, neither they nor the thugs who started rioting are justified in their motives or actions.

Karl Rove's Garage Proves to Be Typical
                  Oct 17 2:24 PM US/Eastern

                  By DARLENE SUPERVILLE
                  Associated Press Writer

                  WASHINGTON

He is "the architect" who steered George W. Bush to victory four times, twice as Texas governor and twice as president.

But can Karl Rove organize his own garage? Can the master of Bush's political planning figure out where to put the ladders, paint cans and cardboard boxes?

Rove's wife, Darby, raised the white garage door one morning last week to show journalists outside the million-dollar brick home that the deputy chief of staff, assistant to the president and senior adviser wasn't home. All the interest came on the eve of his testimony Friday before a grand jury investigating who in the White House might have revealed the identity of a CIA operative.

There was no car in the garage. And the stuff left behind turned out not to be much different from what gathers dust inside most American garages.

                  The inventory, seen from outside:

_Some cardboard file boxes stacked one on top of the other, labeled "Box 6," "Box 4" and what appears to be "Box 7." No sign of boxes 1, 2, 3 and 5.

_What appear to be paint cans stacked alongside a folded, folding chair.

_A rather large wood crate marked "FRAGILE" and painted with arrows indicating which way is up. On top of the crate, two coolers.

                  _A tall aluminum ladder.

_A snow shovel leaned in front of another cardboard box.

_Wicker baskets inside of wicker baskets on top of a shelf running the length of the rear wall. Transparent plastic storage bins crammed with indiscernible stuff. Another cardboard box.

_In one corner, the rear wheel of a bicycle sticks out, along with what appears to be a helmet.
_Another ladder, this one green, leaning sideways.

                    • An interesting thread, and ironic in light of the fact that JMS has always come across as politically neutral in his B5 writing. He's never taken sides on anything politically as far as I've seen, which is one of the things I like about the show.

That's good to see. Thanks for the link, btw (Although I'd disagree with his choice of Al Franken to read; political disagreements with Franken aside, I've never really found him to be that funny, but to each his own...).

                            • My personal opinion, I'm not seeing much of a difference between Democrats and Republicans politically anymore, not on core things. One wants my money for corporate welfare, and the other wants my money for government welfare.

                              • I with you Heinlein both parties seem like they are becoming one at least in washington. The say Differant things but in the end they both spend more and more money and more put more and more control in the govermentes hands.

I do however believe at a grassroots level there is still a differance between Democrats and Republicans.
