Recently, there was a reckoning. It occurred on November 4, 2014 across the United States. Voters, recognizing the failures of the current leadership and fearing their unchecked abuses of power, elected another party as the new majority. This is a first step toward preventing more damage and undoing some of the damage already done. Hopefully, this is as much as will be required.

My entire argument is that whenever the entertainment industry gets together for one of their vanity awards shows, they're more likely to reward those who follow their line of thinking than not."I don't find myself in the same luxury as you. You grew up in freedom, and you can spit on freedom, because you don't know what it is not to have freedom." ---Ayaan Hirsi Ali

Was meant to be for LiM, your reply snuck in there. I have to use the quoting thing more often.
Either way... c'mon guys. It's the ARTS. Or so many think.
I hereby proclaim there should be more liberal messages in WWE and NASCAR.Radhil Trebors

Hollywood's problem is that they are incapable of being subtle. It's usually heavy-handed dreck. Take the film Kingdom of Heaven, for example. What could have been an interesting film on the Crusades was two hours of Orlando Bloom looking pretty, while trying to hammer home the message that the Muslims were the honorable warriors, while the Christians were so dastardly that I expected them to be twirling their Snidely Whiplasy handlebar moustaches.
It's like, can you just give me a regular goddamn movie, without preaching to me. This is, BTW, one of the problems with the Civil War crossover at Marvel. One of the problems, I say, because the entire series - including the stories of the individual titles tied in to it - were absolute dog SHIT, full of inaccurate continuity and grossly wrong characterizations, confounded by shitty plotting and a ridiculous ending. But that's what they get for letting Mark "This is my face as I'm fucking you in the ass" Millar write the damn thing. I just want to read a decent comic book, you don't have to be trying to teach me some sort of bullshit social commentary, thanks."I don't find myself in the same luxury as you. And except for spam, the only posts I know of that have ever been deleted were a couple that contained threats against a prominent civil servant.

speaking of threats and civil servants...
i find it interesting that Ariana Huffington is taking so much flack for removing hate filled posts from her blog site.
its her site and it purpose is to talk about political events of the day ina somewhat rational manner, not have treats and regret and hate posts toword someone. every other site i know of (thats worth reading) edits out remorks like the ones she removed but people are bashing her for "not upholding free speach" and the like
shameful
(not that all her political ideas are sound, but she makes alot more sense then ann coulter)

(Disclaimer - I'm not familiar with her or her site but...)
It's her site. "Freedom of Speach" is the right of a citizen, not a guest in somebody's home or website or blog or bbs. Her site is her own space, just as her own living room is. It's up to her to decide what she'll tolerate in her own space. If they want to exercise freedom of speach, let them find a street corner or spout off in their own space. If she requires a civil form of discourse in hers, more power to her. Maybe if the signal to noise ratio was lowered some actual communication can take place.

The only comics I read anymore are tradebacks of various Vertigo series that interest me, the Cerebus tradebacks, and a handful of manga that interest me. I lost interest in superhero comics after I read Watchmen for the first time in college about 9 years ago.RIP Coach Larry Finch

My god it's true. I'm going to go sit down as the shock of this realization washes over me.
And no, that wasn't my entire argument. It isn't tough to read that which I posted.

Note: I just found out that NASCAR is an acronym. Funny how a liberal knew this before I did, huh?
