Guinness is the nastiest, vomit-inducing shit I have ever had the displeasure of imbibing. Just terrible. I've been drinking quite a bit of Budweiser Select, whereas I used to drink Bud Light.

The Rampant, Irresponsible Drinking Thread
Recently, there was a reckoning. It occurred on November 4, 2014 across the United States. Voters, recognizing the failures of the current leadership and fearing their unchecked abuses of power, elected another party as the new majority. This is a first step toward preventing more damage and undoing some of the damage already done. Hopefully, this is as much as will be required.Tags: None

Z'ha'dumDweller, how am I supposed to take you seriously when you dis Guinness in favor of...Budweiser??Are you perhaps drinking the bottled stuff in the US? That stuff is _not_ for drinking: you need the cans with the nitro thingies in them, if you can't get it on tap.
Me, I like single malt whiskey. Tobermory and Oban are among my faves. Anybody else?

I bought a six pack for NYE. I quite literally spit the shit out after one sip.
I also enjoy the flavored Jack Daniels drinks and Mike's Hard drinks.
Back to beer...Corona is pretty good with salt and lime. Rolling Rock, though, is the best.Recently, there was a reckoning. It occurred on November 4, 2014 across the United States. Well, stout is definitely an acquired taste. Me, I love a good Guinness, particularly on tap. One thing I'm really loving these days is something that's like a tropical mixed drink in a bottle. It's this blue stuff called Hpnotiq. If you're not averse to sweet drinks, this one's really great. And it looks cool in a glass, too! There's also a pink stuff that's similar, called XX - if you mix them, you get this amazingly lavender drink...

I love to have a really strong pi±a colada when I hit the Mexican restaurant.
Drinking and Mexican food go hand in hand. Chinese food...no. I usually order a Diet Coke with my Chinese.Recently, there was a reckoning. It occurred on November 4, 2014 across the United States. Agreed about Mexican and Chinese food. But a really nice way to top off a meal if you're eating sushi (or you're in one of those increasingly-common Asian-fusion places) is to order green tea ice cream, and a glass of plum wine...and pour the plum wine over the green tea ice cream. A friend tipped me off to that combination, which is surprisingly tasty.

They had a really inexpensive sushi place that had just opened back home before I moved. It was decent food.
Green Tea ice cream, huh? What a sweet way to prepare for a wild night. Add ginseng.Recently, there was a reckoning. It occurred on November 4, 2014 across the United States. I've tried Budweiser (regular, bud lite, select) and none have been memorable.
I've not tried Corona or Rolling Rock, yet. I do recommend Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. I love the stuff. I had to buy another fridge just for it.RIP Coach Larry Finch
Thank you Memphis Grizzlies for a great season.

The other thing of course is that Guinness improves as it gets west of Dublin (e.g. Galway, Mayo, Sligo) but goes waaaaaaaaaaaaaay down once it hits the atlantic. I had some in Florida (sorry Jan) and it was awful.
The important thing with Guinness is the "settle and Surge" I've pulled a fwe hundred pints in my time and weas shocked to see the way it was pulled in florida , all at once. The glass should be 3/4 filled, allowed to sewttle and then topped off - and please, no shamrocks on the top, it's sickening to look at.

p.s. mebbie we should move this whole alcohol sub-discussion into it's own thread?"There are no good wars. War is always the worst possible way to resolve differences. It degenerates and corrupts both sides to ever more sordid levels of existence, in their need to gain an advantage over the enemy. Those actively involved in combat are almost always damaged goods for the rest of their lives. If their bodies don't bear scars, their minds do, ofttimes both. Many have said it before, but it can't be said to enough, war is hell. "

OK, just a kick-off (and probably only relevant to our UK/Irish readers) A friend of mine came up with an interesting recepie it is composed of 4 parts cider, one part Buckfast tonic wine (quite sweet and around 14.5% abv so you may have an equiv in the states). He calls it liquid speed and it blows the head off 'ya - hangovers a killer though.

If I drink beer, it's probably Guinness. I enjoy that. That's about the only beer I'll drink, though, because I personally find most beer to taste like piss.
I'm more of a hard liquor man. Usually mix my liquor with other liquids, though. Give me a nice vodka & 7-Up or a rum and coke and I'm happy. Or some straight up shots, I'm down with those, although naturally you get drunker faster that way. And I don't like being drunk."I don't find myself in the same luxury as you. dear god no,
The whole point of a good whiskey is the flavour, the subtle blends (in the case of a non-single malt) and the flavour of the barrell, the aroma etc.
I personally favour Bushmills single malt, preferably black bush.
