Just saw the trailer, and... wow!!! i love it (yeah yeah i know, its still a trailer).

Looks like its going to be a good Superman flick, until now all were crap in comparison to the originals with Christopher Reeve (well, even those weren't so good, only the first and the 2nd ones).

Brandon Routh. Actor: Superman Returns. Brandon James Routh (pronounced like "south") was born in Des Moines, Iowa, and grew up in nearby Norwalk. He is the son of Catherine (Lear), a teacher, and Ronald Routh, a carpenter. He has English, Scottish, and German ancestry. Brandon attended the University of Iowa and starred in many productions at the Norwalk Theater of Performing Arts. His first professional acting role was in the...
Recently, there was a reckoning. It occurred on November 4, 2014 across the United States. Voters, recognizing the failures of the current leadership and fearing their unchecked abuses of power, elected another party as the new majority. This is a first step toward preventing more damage and undoing some of the damage already done. Hopefully, this is as much as will be required.

I know the suit is wrong in terms of colour and design but after that trailer, I am very happy to give it a chance. I don't know if it was just the use of Marlon Brando's touching monologue in combination with Brandon Routh snapping open his steel blue eyes at the most poignant moment (yes...I know they are contact lenses!) but it works for me so far.

Looks like BS is going to have yet another legendary-superhero-franchise start (or perhaps that should be restart) with a great movie.

            Superman . . . Blah! but that's just me

the suit?? what the hell is wrong with the costume? its blue and red with a Red 'S' trapped in a Pentagon. who cares if the colors are a bit darker . . . Is every version of this Comic book franchise DRAWN the same?

            but again, that's just me

So, is this a new origin story for Superman or a continuation of the old movies? The trailer makes it look like a new origin story.

IMHO, we don't need a new version of Superman's origin as a movie. The first Superman movie is just fine as it is. Quite possibly it is the best transfer of a comic book to movie EVER.

While an old enemy plots to render him powerless once and for all, Superman faces the heartbreaking realization that the woman he loves, Lois Lane, has moved on with her life. Or has she? Superman's bittersweet return challenges him to bridge the distance between them while finding a place in a society that has learned to survive without him. In an attempt to protect the world he loves from cataclysmic destruction, Superman embarks on an epic journey of redemption that takes him from the depths of the ocean to the far reaches of outer space.
My guess is that we will have flashbacks of his life for all the little kiddies who dont know much about superman, but this is obviously not an origin story.

Aren't those the little kiddies that watch Smallville?
The origin story is playing out in the small screen... and Superman is back to the big screen.

actually its you old farts and geeks who watch smallville . . . but I figure if they were going to do flashbacks, use clips from smallville, dont use new ones. apparantly there is going to be a tie-in with smallville, but I dont know what yet.

Well, the new dude certainly has the right face n hair for this character...

As for smallvile (intentionally written with ONE "L" ), I like about it that it features some of the actors of the Reeve movies. Namely Reeve himself, Annette O'Toole who played Lana and the chick who played Lois.
And one major asset: Kristin Kreuk!!! *drools*

Btw. how did you like Lois n Clark?
My opinion: Awful show. But it featured yummy Teri Hatcher...

Same opinion over here, the problem with these shows is that they don't stand the test of time, unlike the motion picture (oh and Superman 2 which is my favorite... and which the bad chick in Superman 2 is also in an episode of B5 as "Deathwalker-Jha'Dur").

Lois and Clark... the worst ever (until now at least *g*), for me, that is. Y'know, I watched Smallville and enjoyed it, and after I watched all that there is of Smallville I wanted to watch some more, so I thought: "Well, lets see what else there is". So I found Lois and Clark (and some Comics... which I decided to watch later, which was a mistake *g*) and watched the first episode. So I thought: "Well, a slow and awkward start, but some series get better the longer they run". So I watched until part nine, at what time I was totally cramped and feeling slightly ill. They made a sitcom (at least that was my impression), and they put in absolutely no drama, just fun and some (cheap) action. The romance part was laughtable (to me) and else? Not much. Give me Smallville a hundred times, but no more Lois and Clark, please...
