  • The Shield

Well, I just read that Forest Whitaker is going to be the newest member of the cast on The Shield in season 5, which starts in January. The tagline to that season is "The beginning of the end." Season 6 is not signed yet, so this very well could be the final season.

Recently, there was a reckoning. It occurred on November 4, 2014 across the United States. Voters, recognizing the failures of the current leadership and fearing their unchecked abuses of power, elected another party as the new majority. This is a first step toward preventing more damage and undoing some of the damage already done. Hopefully, this is as much as will be required.

I was wondering about whether this season is their last or not.
"It is said that the future is always born in pain. The history of war is the history of pain. If we are wise, what is born of that pain matures into the promise of a better world, because we learn that we can no longer afford the mistakes of the past." -- G'Kar in Babylon 5:"In the Beginning"

I honestly wouldn't be against this being their last season. If they can maintain quality through the end of the fifth season, they will have done something few shows do. I don't think I've seen an episode yet that I didn't enjoy.

thats the way things are. Shows that have the best quality through and through usually arent as apreciated as they should be. its usually the Shows with their ups and downs who get the most awards . . . and that is why I dont watch award shows

Season 6 will not debut until April, after that new Courtney Cox show, Dirt, run its course. After that, there will be one final seventh season. I believe that Whitaker is signed on for two or three more episodes. Get Boxleitner, damn it!

Also, Dirt looks pretty interesting. I love FX.

Just a heads up...I was at Best Buy last night and every released season of The Shield was on sale for $19.99 each.

Joe...5 isn't out until 3/27. It should be out now, though.

I went to the Best Buy in Sector 14. (They're also having a great Christmas sale - Christmas 2008. )

Actually I forgot that I had lost track of which season we were on. I knew I bought 3 Shield seasons and thought I already owned 2, so I figured they must have been 3,4, and 5. In fact, I only owned S1 of The Shield (I had 1 and 2 of NYPD Blue) so I picked up 2, 3, and 4.

Excellent. It pisses me off to no end that they pushed the release back along with the debut of Season 6.

Have you seen Season 4 yet? It's great. Glenn Close did something that interested me for once.

We've got the final season coming up...finally. I have been going through a re-watch of the series. I am on the sixth episode of the fifth season right now. Whitaker really was great on the show. I have stayed completely spoiler free for the final season.

                        I am really annoyed!!!

Over here in the UK, Channel 5 have been showing THE SHIELD with regularity....until the last year or so where it appears to have dropped off teh radar!

Thank you for staying spoiler free as the last things we saw were, the fallout from

Shane killing Lem with a grenade in his car and Vic finally finding out about it over the course of the season

                        BUT THEN WHAT..?

Yeah, that's all that has been shown. The stupid writers' strike delayed the season's debut until next month. It's been well over a year since we've seen a new episode.

Amazing, amazing stuff. Whitaker really added something to the show. It's great how they took this guy who was trying to do something right and just making him look like the bad guy in all of it. What a creep.

EDIT: Sons of Anarchy also looks to be good. I like Ron Perlman.

                            Phew!

Thanks LIM. That is a relief. So that means that we will soon get it on either FIVE here or on SKY ONE. That's ok because we have SKY so even if they poach it off FIVE We'll still be able to see it!

                            Such a great show.

Vis is such a dynamic character. Michael Chiklis plays it perfectly too. But then there really isn't a bad character in it, even Ronnie got some good episodes.

                              Such a great show.
It is my favorite show of all time. Never has a show weaved so many story elements into a coherent storyline.

Vis is such a dynamic character. Michael Chiklis plays it perfectly too. But then there really isn't a bad character in it, even Ronnie got some good episodes.
It's really bizarre how they took this guy who committed murder in the first episode and turned him into a hero. But then, the guy whom he killed was a rat and nobody can stand a rat. And look at his internal opponents: Aceveda, a scummy politician, Claudette, an old detective who is too self-righteous to really like, and Kavanaugh, who turned out to be a real dirtbag. On the bad guy side, he has taken out some real assholes, like the Armenian with the foot fetish and the Mexican who burned people alive. Plus, Vic does stuff for his kids. Combine all of that and he is a sympathetic character.

Ronnie is just a lovable guy. He is loyal, kind and smart.

Shane has always been shown to be a shithead. He did feel guilt over Terry's murder, but look at what he's done since...like when he tried to equate that other murder to Terry's. Didn't work.

A while back, there were rumors of a spinoff show starring Dutch. If it gets the green light, I say that they should call it "Hungry...like the wolf."
