There are two new posts now that sound less clueless - it still could be all a fake and nonsense, of course, but at least this time the guy has a verified account and he's is giving a name and where his info is coming from:

As much as I want to believe this, part of it sounds almost too good to be true.

Whatever that actually means. Depending on how confidential the information is at that point, and how the company treats it, that wouldn't worry me too much. If information is leaking, there's no reason a mailroom guy couldn't have caught at least part of it. The script started leaking almost a year ago.

The possibility of Pitt in the lead was mentioned by JMS himself, and Fincher as a possible director has been rumoured for some time now. I'm not sure what Jolie and Portman are doing in the cast list, but who knows.

What's more suspicious is the part about Yonkers. 42 minutes for the Yonker's battle sounds like hyperbole.

That 'offer list' and the 42 minute Yonkers scene are what I find unlikely.

I agree. There are just too many big names in that offer list.

Still, there is a possibility that at least part of the information is legit. I think Fincher isn't an unlikely choice at all, assuming he agrees.

That makes a change form the tea lady.

Some of the offer list could be alternatives.

                JMS just replied to this:

                Re: New rumour surfacing.

Sorry, absolutely none of this is true.

Paramount will distribute, not Lion's Gate.

There is no 42 minute Yonkers scene.

There will not be an offers list unti the director is on-board.

There are no negotiations with Fincher and he is not on the radar for this project, though he is a very good director whose work I admire.

Sorry to hear that Fincher isn't considered. So still no news on the director's front *sigh*

If JMS is going to debunk all false rumours about his movies on IMDB, he's got a lot of work ahead of him.

                    admirable of him though

you gotta like somone who will go out of his way to debunk the random falsehoods that such trolls post, one wonders is it a form of feeding them though.

sorry if I seem a tad random i'm coming to the end of a hard year's work on my final degree and am just starting to re-involve myself in the forums I'd been ignoring.

It degenerates and corrupts both sides to ever more sordid levels of existence, in their need to gain an advantage over the enemy. Those actively involved in combat are almost always damaged goods for the rest of their lives. If their bodies don't bear scars, their minds do, ofttimes both. Many have said it before, but it can't be said to enough, war is hell. "

Woke up this morning to news from Variety that Marc Forster (Quantum of Solace) will be directing "World War Z".

As for "WWZ," "The genre always fascinated me, and when they pitched it to me, it reminded me of the paranoid conspiracy films of the '70s like 'All the President's Men,' " Forster told Daily Variety.More than one option(Co) Daily Variety
Looks like this is gonna be a huge movie!

My only concern now is that with all of the big movie premieres in the future Joe won't have any time to sleep or write.

Well, we already know that he can go for five years without sleep. Hopefully he's got a meter installed to let him know when his head will implode from lack of writing.

The 42 minute Yonkers thing was just a bit too much to swallow. How long is the film? 7 hours? The Yonkers scene only reads about 10 minutes. It's a pivotal scene and with a lot of kabooms and such it could go even 15 minutes on film, but I suspect it won't.

I'm just hoping Michael Stipe makes an appearance.

Is that rumor still making the rounds? JMS debunked that *long* ago. How could there possibly be a single scene lasting 42 minutes?

Found a post by JMS about the announcement on the newsgroup:

Title: Re: Attn: JMS - Forbidden Planet!

Another announcement to make, as per Daily Variety, which just went
online with this about an hour ago...there's a director now attached
to World War Z: Marc Forster, whose most current project is the new
                                James Bond movie.

I'm now finishing up the revisions per Marc's director's notes, and
with any luck, we can get this thing moving forward after the first of
the year. Given the scale of the story, Marc's a perfect choice.
