  • No telling how authentic these are since the seller has no idea what the items actually are:

A uniform 'belt buckle': "Earth Alliance wings"

If this is real, the only one I saw was on Mattheson on Crusade-a stat bar with the Psi symbol: "Psi Corps Medal"

    • B5 Books with signatures

I decided to put some of my extras up online:

(And I just realized the Out of the Darkness signature image is from the Legions of Fire trilogy... Update time...)

      • Lee, I think you might need a comma on the first one as it's now boasting a signature by David Straczynski. Not that it will matter to the die-hard fans, who are basically the ones that will be bidding of course.

I think I used up all of the characters alloted in that line. I assume those who are really interested will look at the description and realize what it actually means.

              • Thanks Jan, I got it. You would think that in the Virgin Islands, one would not need a jacket, but I work for a food wholesaler with big freezers and need a lighter jacket for quick freezer trips.

Actually, what we really do not use so much here is AC. With the tradewinds, and cool surrounding ocean, we have been 15-20 degrees cooler than heat-stricken areas in the US. I had to use a comforter the last two nights because TS Chris cooled us off so much.

                Tropics, indeed. Go figure.

                  • A couple of interesting ones in the UK.
Firstly a model kit that I've never seen before in the UK.

                    Secondly convention dvds?

                    • I don't remember seeing the alien head prop in 'Racing the Night,' but now that it's piqued my curiosity, I'll have to go back and look again.

Interestingly, while there may be a few B5/Crusade props still around, the number of actual Optic Nerve prosthetics is extremely small. Around season three or four when the show started getting popular and items began showing up at conventions, the producer sent out a memo that all unused pieces be disposed of so they didn't start showing up and conventions and so forth. I know that at one point writer Marc Zicree had a G'Kar head in his office that was given to him back in season one I think, and I have a season four Narn head somewhere that was given to me. I'm pretty sure a couple of the makeup people left/sold a few heads in the UK after a convention, but I don't know what's happened to them. I'm seriously thinking about putting my Narn up for auction not because I want to get rid of it but only because somebody destroyed my car recently by running a stop sign, thus turning my lovely Toyota into a two-ton metal paperweight. Insurance paid crap, so I may have to let a few items go, but it would definitely break my heart.

                      • Sorry to hear about your car, Joe! You're okay, though?

I'm not certain who owned it but there's been a G'Kar head that's shown up for auction a couple of times. It's in a display case. The two times I saw it, the opening bid was something like $3,000. and I don't think it got any bids at all. Don't know if it ever finally sold.

I'm always a little puzzled at some of the B5 collectors...or rather what folks collect. I've picked up some of the original 'white models' made for the pilot by John Iacovelli for less per model than people regularly spend for the 'Shadow Sentient' figure. To me, the real piece of history of the show is so much more collectible. I guess I should be grateful, though...otherwise I'd've been in major bidding wars for the props and items I've managed to snag.

I wonder what's on this data crystal...?

                        • That G'Kar head hasn't been put up for sale again since Andreas died, but the next time it shows up, I'm going to try to get a consortium of fans together to collectively snag it, specifically to donate to the SF Museum in Seattle. In case anyone wanted to start thinking about how much they can afford to contribute to this cause now.

And Joe, so sorry to hear about your car - glad you're (presumably) okay!

                          • Just thank the Maker that you weren't in a MINI Cooper S, Joe.
Recently, there was a reckoning. It occurred on November 4, 2014 across the United States. Voters, recognizing the failures of the current leadership and fearing their unchecked abuses of power, elected another party as the new majority. This is a first step toward preventing more damage and undoing some of the damage already done. Hopefully, this is as much as will be required.

                            • I think the G'Kar head you guys are talking about may well be the same one, as I remember it being in a display case.

And thanks for the concern about me/car. I think I only came out of it with a bump on the head, although frankly, I could have done without two months of wrangling with insurance companies and so forth. When you're basically self-employed, time wasted is time lost.

Jan, I agree with your comments about what people collect, although I have seen some pretty outrageous prices paid for B5 stuff. In the past, I've pretty much tried to sell or auction items when the money was going for charity or a worthy cause (like the Hawthorne HS convention). But I remember getting a Day of the Dead script signed by just about anyone you could possibly imagine and putting it into an auction at a charity con in Newcastle. While it didn't sell for anywhere near the kind of money it could have at a big con, it helped the committe buy another seeing eye dog and put them well on their way to buying another. To me, that was well worth it.

Oh, certainly! JMS's 'garage sale' aside, when WB did auctions of some of the props the prices were sky high. I'd really had my eye on the Dreaming cup, too....

Cool! Did I ever tell you that the cards I bought from you at Hawthorne became a part of my 'autograph' raffle package when I was reaising money for Rick Biggs family? So they've helped raise funds for two worthy causes that we know of so far.
