  • And now for something completely different...

In honor of National Comic Book Day, I've got some original JMS/Colleen Doran Book of Lost Souls art up for auction including two pages from the written, drawn but never published Issue #7. Looks like interesting characters!

    • Ready for Halloween? I've just listed *four* Halloween masks ranging from really cool (G'Kar & Delenn) to really cheesy (Sheridan & Londo).

      ETA: the Delenn one sold!

      Bid high and bid often!

Why do you, and your "friends", insist on tempting me Jan?! I am a simple man of simple means and yet time after time you insist on showing me these extravagant items that you KNOW I will greatly desire!!!!!!

Nope. Still recovering from 6 months of unemployment and it doesn't look like they ship to the States.

I thought that was a great opening price (I already have one, though) until I saw the shipping charge was more than the opening bid. Even for international, that's really steep.

                        • Thanks for the input Jan.

I have been trying to get the shipping price down, but shipping out of Canada (which is where I'm from) can get quite pricey at times.

In fact, I shipped a Star Trek 6 Enterprise model kit last year to Greece and the shipping ended up being over $100.00 CDN!!! After that experience I only ship to Canada and the U.S. now.

Also it's worth noting that the shipping prices and the opening bid that you see is in Canadian funds, which means that the prices are much cheaper in U.S. Dollars.

For example (based on exchange rates today)
Opening Bid of $99.99 is approximately $78.10 US dollars.

International Shipping (from Canada to the U.S.) would also work out to about the same amount of $78.10 US.

I added the currency exchange information to the listing.

                          • I knew it was in Canadian funds, it just startled me that Canadian shipping has gotten as obscene as USian.

                            • Tell me about it! I now pretty much have to avoid ordering from USA based companies or artists, and it really saddens me not to be able to support musicians or artists / writers whose work I enjoy directly.

Shipping is insane these days, almost as much or more than the product I am ordering.

                              • kind of on topic, i once ordered a bok on ebat and won it with the opening bid of 20p.
The shipping was 12 pounds. When it arrived it came stuffed in to a jiffy envelope (around 50p) with stamps to the value of 1.50 on it.

This is sadly more common than you might think, certain sellers will charge very high prices for shipping so they still show a profit even if the bids are not high. I don't think anyone in here would stoop to such tactics, but it's led me to always always check shipping chages before bidding.
"There are no good wars. War is always the worst possible way to resolve differences. It degenerates and corrupts both sides to ever more sordid levels of existence, in their need to gain an advantage over the enemy. Those actively involved in combat are almost always damaged goods for the rest of their lives. If their bodies don't bear scars, their minds do, ofttimes both. Many have said it before, but it can't be said to enough, war is hell. "
