I'm sure this can't be the first one to hit Ebay but it's the first I've seen: the signed and numbered Declaration of Principles. This one's #219 out of a run of 500 and comes with all of the documentation. Once again, it's a very reasonable opening bid. I'll be interested to see what the final price is.

<shrug> Somebody broke into my house through a basement window and ripped out a good bit of the installed copper tubing (the stuff that supplies water to the house for drinking, clothes washing, bathrooms, kitchen and my hot water furnace). There have been similar incidents all over the country because scrap prices are high. I've seen local TV news reports about similar incidents on several different occasions now. I mean, who would think that people would break in and steal installed plumbing to get the copper? I lost all water to the house (temporarily) and the use of my furnace. I got water back to one half of the house by isolating the damaged part of the house.

Who would break in and disable somebody's furnace for a couple feet of 1/4" copper tubing that would be a pain to tear out? It's not worth it, but they did it.

People have even climbed up telephone poles and stolen copper telephone cables in rural areas of Pennsylvania. That was on the local TV news a couple of weeks ago.

So now, do you see why I'm so "optimistic" ?

Well, it's not that bad over here... yet.
But copper is being stolen everywhere: schools, churches, railway installations, roofs... you name it.

I entered the post- round with a "lottery", and got the opportunity . they held the last 50 of the 500 back when too many people around the world missed the opportunity, since for them the release was in the middle of the night, ad there was quite a rush to get them.

I am glad I did enter, it is a beauty, I am not going to part with that one.
