'To see the invisible man', you're right. Beautiful story, brilliant. But then again ; that was Silverberg at his creative peak.

Come to think of it, why the hell didn't they turn that story into a movie? If they can do 'Minority Report' they can do this...

That one was based on a Robert Silverberg short story (or novella) of the same title ("To see the Invisible Man"?? not sure). Another one I remember reading, before it became an episode, was "A Message of Charity" but the name of the author escapes me. It was the one of the boy having a fever and entering in communication with a girl in Salem at the time of the witch trials who was also having a fever.
I think that adapting actual science fiction stories is part of what made the 80s Twilight Zone series good.
And in hindsight I can also see JMS's involvement as another "goodness" factor.
I have never seen much of the original Serling series, and I regret (sometimes) chosing good eats over good reads and not buying the book of Rod Serling's Twilight Zone stories nor the book of 80s Twilight Zone stories, both of which I saw (not simultaneously) on a used book store years ago (but the budget of a grad student led to such hindsightful regrets).

Yes, this DVD set is for episodes that aired in '88 and '89.

Let me know on the He-Man. I'd be vastly amused.
    Will do.

This the '80s version of Twilight Zone you're talking about? I know I've been eyeing the old Rod Serling masterpieces, those Definitive sets they released. Only my wallet cries out in pain everytime I draw near. Someday... but if the newer series (the '04? version I can ignore) is more reasonable, and still pretty good, that'd be something to go for.

    What's old is new again

So has anybody else picked up the 'Twilight Zone Seasons 2 & 3' DVD set yet? That's the one that has the episodes by JMS when he was story editor. I think I've seen all of his episodes now and it was a LOT of fun.

I'd read his anthology of the episodes he'd written but was hugely surprised to find an episode he'd written that wasn't in the book. It was a good story. I wish I could have seen what he'd've written as the introduction to that story. 'New' JMS story....life is good.

Some of the episodes were even more powerful when seen than when read. This followed what I'd come to expect from JMS whose scripts are great but the acting/music/effects etc. take things to a higher level. Most were pretty much on the same level and a few were disappointingly less somehow. None bad, don't get me wrong, just not as effective as the written version. I think all but maybe one of them was changed somehow, mainly in small ways.

One, titled "Acts of Terror" should have been just killer but I think it was too intense for TV back then (1988-89) so some scenes were softened a bit as was the make-up. I can still see why it's used as an aid to encourage battered women to take control of their lives but this one I'd love to see remade to today's standards.

And now, today, I ordered the 10-best He-Man collection. I think that there's only one JMS episode but he posted that he did the 'Ram-Man' song so I've got to see if that ended up on the DVD!

Between comics and many-years-ago shows coming on DVD, I should be able to keep myself entertained until whatever TV show JMS is getting together is on.
