JMS Appearances

I was just paging through the latest issue of the PREVIEWS catalog I got at the local comics shop yesterday at the two page ad for WIZARD Magazine was promo-ing an article about JMS' start on FANTASTIC FOUR and then underneath was a second blurb- "Meet Guest Og Honor J Michael Strazynski at Wizard World Philadelphia June 3-5!"

I don't think I've seen this announced anywhere else, including from JMS hisself.

So I'm only two hours away, I'll be there. Anyone else?

Well, at least it's on the right coast for me to attend but I don't know yet. JMS did say that he thought he might have some convention info for us soon. So far I can find:

May 14-15 Comic Expo; Bristol, UK
June 3-5 Wizard Con; Philadelphia, PA
July 14-17 - Comic Con International; San Diega, CA
August 26-28 - Comic Book Expo; Toronto, ON, Canada

Wish he'd come back to Florida...

I'm just amazed that we've gotten three mid-Atlantic appearances within three years... (NYC for the big AMazing #500 signing, the high school thing last spring and now this)

I think I have to go out and get more stuff to get signed!

Well JMS's latest post confirms he'll be at San Diego, but no confirmation yet on Philly...

I put in a question whether he might be doing some smaller cons this year. Hope so. Hawthorne was great, as was V-con a few years ago.

I don't know what kind of confirmation we could be waiting for - Wizard World is advertising him as the Guest of Honor for the Philly con on their website. They must have a fairly firm committment from him!

I hope JMS can clue us in as to his schedule at the con. I don't really want to buy a three-day ticket if I don't have to. I mean, I live close enough that I could make a last-minute decision to go on more than one day, but I can't imagine having _time_ to be there for three days!

Anyone here in the Phila. area planning on going? I'm betting we'll have a fair sized mob from the moderated newsgroup.

If I were to video tape the JMS talk at the San Diego Comic Con and put it up at the side, would people be interested in downloading it? I'd probably need to get permission from JMS and/or the ComicCon staff to video tape the session.

I'm not from the Phila. area but it looks like I'll be able to come. Look out Wizard Con, Amy and Jan at the same con again!

Well, by now he's also replied that he has no idea of the schedule yet. I'm sure that it he wasn't actually committed to appearing at the con, he would have said something by that point.

I'm going to strangle my girlfriend's friends. Not all of them, just the ones who scheduled a baby/wedding shower for a mutual friend for that Saturday (without asking her oif that date was OK) and then told her "Well, since you're her best friend, you have to be there." She's bummed out as she wanted to come to the con with me. (We were then heading up to Reading in the evening for the WW2 re-enactment weekend for the Saturday Night Hanger Dance. We're Lindy hoppers, too...)

Ahh well, I guess I'll be flying solo that day.
