  • Possible SDCC and/or Worldcon Panel

So...I sent in my application for a B5 panel at San Diego Comic-Con this afternoon. Whew! I only had until April 23 to send it!

So - anybody here who already has tickets interested in joining me in the front of the room? Note that we won't get confirmation until a few weeks out from the con.

Good luck Jan. Hope you can get something off the ground.
Captain John Sheridan: I really *hate* it when you do that.

    Kosh: Good!

No news yet. Though I did invite David Gerrold to be on one or both panels but he declined.

Stay tuned, though! Due to a manufacturer error, I'll have something to offer you guys first before anybody else gets a chance at it.

Just go ahead and PM me Jan. I'm sure no one else is interested.

You may be right, Looney - BUT, if there aren't enough takers here, I'll make the offer to the 31K members of the big B5 Facebook group.

Well, this rather sucks. JMS posted:

So if I get that panel, looks like that may be the only B5 representation this year. Oh, dear...

Jan: Good luck with Your panel!

Jan, do You remember a year, when JMS did NOT stay at SDCC?

And more JMS: to an Cheryl Martin inquiry, if JMS eventualy would attend San Jose WorldCon 76, JMS answered "Nope".
Next question to JMS should be: "Do You attend ANY SF-F-related Con in 2018?"

After going away from Comics, he wouldn't go away from SF, wouldn't he?

Yes that sucks, but I think it makes a B5 panel all the more important. Plus it is a good thing to have B5 represented as a show. In recent years it seems like people from B5 have been there, JMS, Pat, Claudia, but I don't recall there being much that was show specific. Having a panel with the actual title of the show involved would be great.

Speaking of other people, was it mentioned somewhere that Pat Tallman is not attending this year as well?

And here is a dilemma for you, Jan. Pat or Claudia or Bruce or Jason or all of them show up at the panel and end up taking it over with their own agenda. Would this be a good or bad thing?

Thanks! If I get it (them).

One because of illness, I think? A few times he's cautioned people that commitments might keep him away. I did ask how we'd get our annual 'info-dump' on all things in the Straczynski-verses (especially the current commitments) and didn't get an answer.

It's been a while since he's done much besides SDCC at all, especially since he gave up doing comics.

Pat was there the past couple of years but mainly for autographs, I think. Though she might have done a stunt panel, too.

I hadn't seen anything one way or another?

All of them? Probably not. Given a choice of those (unlikely), I'd probably ask Pat and Bruce. Much as I like them, Jason and Claudia would be too likely to get side-tracked.

Oh, I did reach out to David Gerrold as it seems that he'll be at both but he didn't feel he'd have enough to say about the show.

As much as I'd love to go to a convention that big, it's at a very bad time of the year for my job. I'm sorry to hear JMS won't be there, I hope all is well in his part of the multiverse.

Maybe he's busy working on a movie script.

                        W0rldCon Panel

As for the WorldCon panel, I am actually part of the program staff (but just now got access to the programming database) and saw the B5 panel entry (I was going to try to put one together myself. I should be able to take part in the panel and was going to check with some authors who are B5 fans to see if they are interested in taking part.

I've got Wendy Sheridan, Cherylo Martin and Neil Ottenstein lined up for the panel already. Naturally, you're welcome to join us. I'd tried tagging you in the original thread but thought maybe you weren't coming when I didn't hear back. I think any more panelists would make it unwieldy.

Hmmm... I just read that panel confirmation emails for SDCC went out last week. I didn't get one so maybe I didn't get my proposed panel. Or I may still get it if they're sending emails out in waves. Keep your fingers crossed for me!!
