  • Mira and Space Command

Good news on the Space Command - Kickstarter project.
They are closer to beginning production on the first movie, the script is completed and actors are being selected.

Now the big news as it appears in the latest dispatch to the backers from Marc Zicree...

"Just a few days ago, I had lunch with the spectacular MIRA FURLAN of LOST and BABYLON 5. She and I worked together on B5, and IÆve longed to work with her again ever since. Mira was thrilled to be invited to be part of SPACE COMMAND, and IÆm currently designing a major role for her!"

    Woo hoo!

    This looks ace.
Captain John Sheridan: I really *hate* it when you do that.

        Wow! Someone's excited!

Does look like it has real potential to be great.

I don't know what Marc Zicree relationship with B5 was, sounds like he was in the mix.

Doug Drexlar brings a lot of cred to Space Command, he's legendary for his graphics work on Trek and BSG.
You can see his blog here http://drexfiles.wordpress.com/
hasn't been active since he got involved with this project but has a lot of great info on past work
Sure wish we could see the completed 'Blood and Chrome' movie.

Like every job, these are the guys in the trenches who do the heavy lifting while the suits banter over profit margins and commercial sales at the whim of the networks.
Glad to see the folks who actually care about the genre putting this together. Maybe it's time the lunatics got a chance to run the asylum - can't wait to see the results.

"giggles muchly" What gave you that idea?

But yes, I was excited already when I first saw the video on kickstarter, and then even more excited that they asked Amber Benson to be involved. But Mira is the icing and the chocolate and everything classy and nice.

He wrote the episode "Survivors". IIRC, he also worked or wrote for Captain Power back in the day.

Marc and Joe were friends back from Real Ghostbusters time. Marc wrote the bible and pilot for Captain Power and then recommended Joe for the show runner job. Jms formed the initial B5 team from the Captain Power staff. So Marc was a definite catalyst to the beginning of Babylon 5!

Oh... I dunno... Just a hunch.

I had no idea Amber Benson was involved too. Not sure how I missed that. She was always solid in Buffy, and I know she also dabbles in writing too. If the cast they’re assembling is anything to go by, we should be in for a treat. Web based shows funded by the fans is definitely the way forward. No clueless network executives to ruin genre shows they don’t understand.

You are of course right, seeing Mira in some SF again will be an absolute pleasure.

Yay, a new update on the Space Command scripts, spacehips, stars & more!

We learned that a while ago Doug Drexlar dropped out due to creative differences But it's still looking really good

Some of the early trailers I saw were a bit CGI heavy, and not in a good way! However, perhaps the final look of the show will be better.

In any case, this has massive potential and promise... and what a cast!

I'd be surprised if they match the quality of Lost Tales.

Due to the lack of budget, I'm expecting something more on the level of a professional Trek fan film but with better acting and hopefully... a better script.

                          The Star Trek Continues film 'Lolani' is a good example;

Mira's a special talent, so I hope this is successful. But it's hard to get excited about this. Zicree did a really thorough job with his Twilight Zone book, and it is a definitive resource; but as a creative writer, I haven't seen anything interesting from him. Hope I'm wrong ...
