Here is a link to the most affordable way to get access to the LANTERN CITY: RISE story . . . if you have an iPhone or iPad.

    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/rise...860920937?mt=8

As of right now it only works on those products. I have neither. As has been mentioned before this audio version is also available through Amazon, but it is double the price of this app.

Actually the most affordable way to get it would be if they allowed you to choose it as one of your two FREE books when you start your Free Audible trial.

I thought I would give this thread a 'bump' in case anyone missed the post before this one.

I never remember to visit this sector. I usually do a quick drive-by in the B5 sector, and then zip right out again.

Did you ever find someone to gift that app too?

The LANTERN CITY: RISE App is now available through GooglePlay:

Apparently the Android problem has been solved!

Has anyone yet read Lantern City: Rise? I'm intrigued by the concept of this series, and debating whether or not to pick up this book?

Yes. Honest opinion is that it is an entertaining short read, but not Shakespeare. It serves mostly as deep back story for what might come in the series. There isn't a lot to it, but it is a good setup for what might come later on. My only real complaint would be that the final chapters seemed to rush by a little too quickly. I will say that if you aren't interested in reading it, the audio version is cheaper and Bruce Boxleitner is the narrator.

And Oh-By-The-Way, they are working on another book - The Last War.

Here is the latest update from Trevor Crafts on the Google Play App.

                Hi All,

We are working through the issues with the Google Play store. While it is live as an android app, amazingly I have no way to get it to the people who have pre ordered. We are working with the Amazon store to see if we can make that work, but Google unfortunately doesn't like to share. Apologies about the delay in getting the RISE Android version out to those who are waiting.

So there is still a small issue, but they are trying to deal with it.

Not sure what this means, but it is a good tease. Something similar first appeared on Twitter yesterday. Now it is up on the LanternCityTV forum.

This is a might be the start of the ball getting rolling again.

Looney, can you repost the news here please? I can't access the post on the LC forums (not a member, no interest in becoming one).

The quote is the news. It is just a tease that makes it sound like something might be coming soon. I know that the main people involved have been working on other projects recently, including a second book. I am hopeful that it means they have a deal in place to get the show done, but it might just be a signal that they are getting active on the project again. I only posted the link to the forum in case folks wanted to become Citizens.

Edit: And of course now their board is down. I must have done something by spreading the word.

                      • The link took me to the forum, is that where you meant it to go? I didn't see any quotes. I did see you started a free Babylon 5 thread. Good on ya.

Hurraays on a second book. I liked the first one. I haven't been to the lc forum in ages. Too many other things to focus on.

That is all there is. I think TC is just hinting there might be some stuff happening soon.

                          • Ohhh okay. My eyes totes missed that line, I think I was expecting something huge and exciting or something. "giggles"

Maybe Bruce and Trevor should just concentrate on writing an awesome set of books, and marketing them. Their marketing is still quite terrible, and then once they have a full series of books, kickstarter a web series.

They need to quit thinking old, outdated traditional tv industry and go indie.

Abolsutely! There's a big steampunk community out there, and even thought I think the genre is a bit 'overdone' by now, there would still be plenty of support. They talked about tapping into that, but it doesn't seem to have really been done in any concerted way.

I also think they missed a trick by not doing graphic novels or a webcomic as opposed to illustrated prose novels.

They've explained why they are going the outdated traditional way; that is where the money is. They know the way they want to do the show is going to take a LARGE budget, which coincidentally is probably a reason they are having so much trouble shopping the idea. That is why they are not even trying to independently produce a pilot to shop. They know the Steampunk community isn't going to accept a show with a bunch of cheap CGI. They know the Steampunk community is full of people who make things. They know people in the Steampunk community are going to want to see a show with a world that looks solid.

Now the idea about writing books or graphic novels is a very good idea, especial considering the group they did RISE with. That might be their best route for growing new interest in the project. They had a brilliant idea for luring Steampunk fans in the first time around; tell them they can submit ideas for props and costumes and they might use them on the show. Where that idea falls apart is A: You get a bunch of people who are only interested in that aspect of the show and not the show itself; B: You get a bunch of frustrated people who want to submit ideas, but you have no show for the ideas to be showcased. I am sure they will stress this idea again when they start their push, but I hope they recognize they need more than this gimmick. They need solid material people can get interested in. A second book is a great start.

They really dropped the ball by not putting more material out there in some form at the beginning and throughout, but that stuff costs money. The first book was a great idea, but they probably should have had it done before they started trying to lure fans in. Unfortunately it seems like it was an idea they had after the fact. What it became was a last minute effort to keep people interested when most of the interest was dwindling. They have one hundred and thirteen thousand plus LIKES on Facebook, but I think the majority of those folks weren't paying much attention by the time the idea for the book came up. I think most people who LIKED them on Facebook assumed the show would come pretty immediately after the push started in 2012. It didn't so they lost interest.

You have to keep in mind that we are talking about a handful of people trying to make this happen. I think what happened is Team LC put everything they had into trying to get the show made, but they just ran out of time and had to move on for practical reasons. BB got his new show and Trevor Crafts has been Executive Producing something else.

                                http://www.imdb.com/name/nm4708602/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1

As it stands Matthew Daley is working on the second book and Crafts' project is in Post Production, so maybe they will soon have time to get Lantern City going again. Maybe the message means they are about to make an announcement or that they are about to start a new marketing push. My hope is that it means they have a deal. If not then I hope they have come up with a budget to put some cool stuff out there to recharge interest in the project.
