Just in case this needs to be mentioned or re-mentioned, there should be a Lantern City panel in Phoenix that none of you should miss. I am serious. I want that room packed! Plus, you'll thank me for it. They will hand out some freebies and you will get more information about RISE. Possibly you'll get more news than they are putting out right now. Anyway, spread the word for everyone to be at that panel. And when you get there, tell them The Looney sent you.
(I'll probably bring this up again as it gets closer.)
How can you tell? I just went to look it up and I don't know where you found a schedule you can follow. The only things I found made it look like JMS was Friday and Lantern City was Sunday. But I am not questioning you. I am questioning how difficult it is to find out what is happening through the Phoenix Comicon website. And it looks like there will be a large Steampunk group there so it won't be completely pointless, but we all know it would be much better if B5 fans could be there.
That is terrible news. Sorry everybody. I know that really dampens the mood, but he is only one of many. A big one, but it doesn't mean you won't have a good time.
Sorry Trevor Crafts. I doubt that this means Lantern City is over or anything that dramatic, but being at this particular Con could have been a huge boost of support for that show.
Here are some updates. I was reminded that Mira and Gigi Edgley will be in attendance and I assume that reminder means that they will be at the Lantern City panel. It stinks that Boxleitner can't make it, but those are the breaks and if I were going to Phoenix I definitely love the trade off for Mrs. Edgley. I was also informed that updates to the site will be coming soon.
BTW - Lantern City RISE pre-orders are at 199 of 2500. WHO WANTS TO BE number 200!?!?!?!?

You all remember yesterday when I posted that RISE had finally reached 200 Pre-Orders. (SEE ABOVE) LOL Anyway, all of the sudden it just jumped to 279. I have no idea what changed, but they just got 79 pre-orders in 24hrs. Anyone know how or why? Could it be the BB Facebook page announcement? It almost has to be.

As you know I wasn't in Phoenix, but I was clued in over in the Lantern City forum. If anyone was there please feel free to correct anything I say if I get it wrong and add as many details as you like. . . . please. I wasn't there, so my info is second hand.
It doesn't appear a lot of new revelations really came up other than some slides of artwork that will appear in RISE. Trevor Crafts and Boxleitner both missed the panel; of course it was common knowledge that Boxleitner was busy. Matthew James Daley ran it with Mira and Gigi Edgley. It sounds like Mira and Gigi were great and are both very enthused about working on the project. Unfortunately according to their RISE pre-order counter, it doesn't look like Phoenix did much to boost their sales.
The worst thing I heard is that when asked, Daley said a realistic timetable for the show premiering is 2015. He said 2014 would be great, but 2015 is a more practical assessment. It is going to be tough to keep a fan base interested for another year and a half plus. What may be even more difficult is keeping those actors lined up.
Daley did point out that they are planning other Lantern City books after RISE. He didn't give a timetable; just that they are planned. He also said he has written a lot of scripts for the show and outlines for seven seasons. I think that is about it. I'll post it if I hear more news. Crafts did promise updates soon.
There's a new, informative trailer about Lantern City, which covers RISE over at their facebook page.
I'm still massively confused as to what RISE actually is! The facebook post read thusly:
"Only one month until the release of "RISE"! Here is a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the graphic novel with producers Trevor Crafts and Bruce Boxleitner, writer Matthew James Daley and the artists at Section Studios. Pre-order today at www.lanterncitytv.com/rise". (emphasis added by me).
It says 'graphic novel'... which to most people means a long form comic. So, perhaps it is a comic? Everything I'd read previously suggested it was a prose novel, but with illustrations. I've asked the question on their Facebook page, so hopefully an answer will be forthcoming.
Captain John Sheridan: I really *hate* it when you do that.
