  • JMS at NY Comic-Con Oct 8-10, 2010

Just found on JMS's Fan Facebook page:

A bit of news for folks on the East Coast who were disappointed when I had to cancel FanExpo in Toronto in order to catch up on work. Now that I'm nearly caught up, I can confirm that I will attend the New York Comic Con the weekend of October 8th as one of the guests of honor.

Sorreee! It was just there on Facebook when I got home from work. Only doing my job as a demented town crier. Now I'm off to put it on the main page...

Who? She whom you just cursed?? I'd say there's a good possibility of that.

Hoping Frulad doesn't get mad at me again... Just found this on JMS's Facebook page.

Thankfully, my flight out isn't until after 6:00 PM on Sunday.

            Somebody asked about his signing:

Sigh...I'm getting depressed at how much I find out on Facebook these days. Anyway, just found this on Facebook:

Panels scheduled to go live tomorrow, autographs + guests info. to follow Friday.

Also, there's a cute vid from Marvel on YouTube:

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

NYCC has the panel schedule up now. Searching, I only found JMS listed for one thing, though I imagine he'll probably hit some of the Comics panels.

Interestingly, his spotlight is billed as "DC Focus: J. Michael Straczynski"

Description: Eisner and Hugo Award-winning writer and NY Comic Con Guest of Honor, J. Michael Straczynski, is here! From his fantastic Brave and the Bold run to his ambitious Superman and Wonder Woman tales to his redefinition of the Man of Steel in the upcoming Superman: Earth One, there are many topics to cover! This is a definite can’t-miss opportunity to share time with a world-renowned writer, discussing what he has in store for these books -- and beyond!
Even though an autograph schedule is up, no sign of JMS signings as yet.

I have to admit that they seem to be a bit slow with getting the schedules up this year. Also, really wish they would go back to the grid style. So much easier to skim and it helps me keep track of what is going on in the main hall...

I'm not fond of how they've got it myself, though I've seen the grid style schedule come out last at several cons. As long as it's searchable, I'm okay (and happy so far that I don't have any conflicts).

I'm more concerned at not finding any signings for JMS even though the schedule's been up for a few days. The last time I was there, they really screwed that up; first scheduling on at the same time as a panel, then claiming that it was a very limited ticket signing and then not giving him the proper space for the line at another signing. I'm hoping they've gotten better.

So one week from right now, I'll be on the plane to NY. Anybody besides Frulad going to be there, too?

JMS just posted about his signing:

I'll be signing sometime Saturday afternoon (there's some give and take whether it'll be at the DC booth at 2 or the autograph area at 4), but either way I'll definitely be signing at 3 in the autograph area at table 2.
                        and

Okay, Saturday's set...I'll be doing the main autograph signing at table 2 on Saturday at 4 not the DC booth, since I can handle more people this way, and the DC signings sometimes go under the radar on announcements.

Now that the show's actually started, it looks like JMS is scheduled for 2 autograph sessions as well as his spotlight panel:

                          Autographs:
Sat 4-5 PM at Table 16
Sun 3-4 PM at Table 1

                          Spotlight:
                          Sundeay 1:30-2:30 PM room 1A08

                          G'night....

Nothing major as yet. JMS was part of the DCUniverse panel this afternoon. He talked a little bit about what he's doing on Wonder Wman and Superman. Two new tidbits are (spoilers below)
-There will be a WW/Superman crossover at some point.
                              - There are clues as to what's going on with the new Wonder Woman in the issues. One such was the way she was able to pass by Cerberus in the last issue.
                              - Now that New Krypton is gone, there will be a new kind of Kryponite which affects humans rather than Krytonians.

He also talked about some of the match-ups coming up for the Brave and the Bold but I don't recall them offhand. Anybody else remember? I'll listen to my recording once I'm home and let you know if nobody else chimes in.

Samaritan X got a mention so maybe that's coming up soon.

That's all I can think of on that front. At his signing this afternoon I caught a glimpse of Julie Caitlyn Brown helping him find a chair after the previous panel took the ones that had been at that table.
