  • JMS CANCELS FanExpo 2010

    From JMS' Faceook page:

    J. MIchael Straczynski Quick update: I'll be appearing at the San Diego Comic Con (July 22-25) and the Toronto Expo (August 27-29), though the latter is tentative depending on work schedules. These also correspond to the release of my work on Superman (with issue 700 and the first regular issue thereafter) and Wonder Woman (ditto but 600 an...d the next thereafter). No other conventions scheduled at this time, buried under too much work.

Looks like they've got a really good line-up of other guests, too.

Whaaat!? If he comes, too good to be true I was on the fence about going this year, but I better get it set up just in case.

I was surprised that tickets don't go on sale until July 1.

Now I've got to figure out whether to gamble that he'll be actually appearing or not... It'd be nice to hang out with you again, Spoo Junky.

It would be great to see you again I didn't expect that he'd come again so soon, it was a few years between last year and the previous visit. Not that I'm complaining...

Turns out the press of work has forced him to cancel:

Quick note of apologies to our friends north of the border...I've had to cancel out my appearance at the Fan Expo later this month (which was always contingent on work) due to the press of work here. Between having been down with bronchitis and then SDCC, I've fallen behind on scripts for DC and elsewhere, and need to catch up, so with regrets and apologies to our Canadian friends, I have to bow out.
To be clear: this was/is the Fan Expo in Toronto the weekend of August 27th. Forgot to add that part.

I saw that. Too bad but I was kind of expecting it. There is still a lot to see this year so I'll manage....somehow.... :P

It's a pretty amazing line-up of guests even without JMS, SJ. I'm sure you'll have a good time. I wish I could come anyway, but the press of my own job has gotten so that I might not have been able to make it even if JMS hadn't had to cancel.

Sorry to hear you can't come this year Pesky work! Ah well, there's always next year. There really is a lot to see this year so I hope the schedule comes out soon so I can start planning my days.

No JMS at FanExpo, but Bruce Boxleitner apparently snuck in for the Tron preview and signed autographs for about an hour. I found out too late to get in on the action. That's okay though, because I met Ernest Borgnine The man is amazing...he's 93 and still working. He had some great stories to tell about the films he's done and the people he's worked with, like Bette Davis, William Holden, Frank Sinatra, on and on... so cool!

I was hoping you had a great time, SJ. Who else did you see/meet?

On the Friday I got autographs for Felicia Day and Amy Okuda (The Guild web series - if you haven't seen it, it makes fun of gaming and the stuff that can go on...very funny); Stan Lee, Dean Stockwell and of course Ernest Borgnine. After that I just took it easy and read a book in the perpetual line ups :P I sat in on the panel for Felicia Day, William Shatner and Ernie B. In between I just wandered and took in the sights.

In a way it was good you couldn't come this year. It was in a different part of the building and really too small for the amount of people that showed up. Luckily I'm an early bird. On Friday I went to where it was held last year and figured it had moved when a big sign said "Welcome International Continence Society (ICS) and the International Urogynecological Association" haha

Here are a few pics (I hope). Thanks to hubby for helping this sad, computer illiterate soul
