  • JMS talks writing

    From his Facebook page:

Demonstrating a serious lack of decorum on their part, the Orange County Screenwriters Association has invited me to talk about writing on May 22nd at the Regency South Coast Theater in Santa Ana. It's open to the public, with the first hour spent on general business before I show up. So the services start at 10 a.m., the trouble begins at 11, and the first arrests should commence by noon.

Well as that is a Saturday and I live about 15 minutes from there (and work 5 minutes away). I'm planning on going. Maybe I'll get Joe to sign my Scriptwriting and Demonside books. I'd bring the Script books but I think that would be pushing it a bit.

Probably should check whether there'll be a signing afterward. There wasn't after his MIT talk although he did end up signing some things.

Cool I get to meet the infamous Jan. I think I'll have her sign my Crusade interview book.

When will you be out here?

So Jan, when do you have your signature session scheduled?

I'll be visiting a friend for a few days before JMS' talk and then I come home the day after.

I'm hoping the theater won't mind if we hold an impromptu session after JMS' talk. AstroBoy, you'll have to help me keep the line out of the way, won't you please? (And where the heck is a 'tongue in cheek' emoticon when you need one?!)

Bah...now I have to try to get a babysitter and go.

Yeah I'll help with crowd control. But only after I get my book signed.

You may wish to contact the theater before hand.

I could have used the "tongue in cheek" on a number of occasions. The "stick out the tongue" () icon, doesn't seem to fit.

But of course! From JMS or from JMS?

Alas, we should be mindful that JMS will be among his fellow writers on this occassion so it's probably better to postpone this for now rather than risk tempting JMS to commit fanicide. I'm sure there'll be another chance anon.

I would warn Southern California of my attendance as well were I not a constant feature of the region...like the threat of an earthquake.

However, it's only fair to warn folks that it'll be the first time that the East Coast branch of the scripts team will be meeting with the entire SoCal branch. Will critical mass be reached? Watch for mushroom clouds to the West!
