  • JMS on Facebook

JMS has posted some updates on his Facebook page recently and I posted the movie info in that forum the other day. This was a fun tidbit, though:

One other piece of fun: I did a cameo on the new Thor movie. It was supposed to be just a ten second deal, but director Kenneth Branagh decided (against the evidence) that I can act, so he kept putting me in more bits. We'll see what ends up on the cutting room floor, but it was a lot of fun.
Guess we'll find out in January. When asked for more info, he wrote:

I can't comment on the role or anything specific to the story or characters out of deference to the production. All I can say is that it was something drawn from my tenure writing the Thor comic...so basically I've finally disappeared into my own narrative. Knew that would happen one of these days.

Just found out two minutes ago that JMS was on Facebook and rushed over here to report on it. Should have known you'd beat me to it Jan.

Sorry, Frulad, didn't mean to steal your scoop.

I've known about his page for a while but he didn't seem to be using it for updates about his work so I hadn't mentioned it. Now he did so I made sure it would be okay to repost before I posted the bit about "The Flickering Light" in the movie forum. (Yeah, I know...Facebook is pretty public so it wouldn't seem like he'd post anything he didn't want redistributed but since it's a personal page rather than a fan page, it felt like I should ask)

I've avoided Facebook like the plague. I may have to change my mind.

Dan, as far as I know, you don't have to have an account to look at most of the stuff. Naturally, folks often set it not to share personal info to anybody they haven't 'friended', but to just look at their wall (the writing's on the wall?) I don't think you need to have join. It's been a while so I may be wrong.

EEEK FOR THOR MOVIE! I hope JMS is in there shutting down a power switch at the end of the movie.

Oh, no, definitely not the power switch! We don't want him typecast, do we? He's got a much greater range than that.

Methinks this thread may lead to yet another one of Jan's fantastics contests.

Hmmm...there's an idea. Lord knows I can always put together a package of B5 stuff to use as prizes. Thing is, "Thor" doesn't come out until January next year so it's a little early to start a guessing game about his part in that. Any suggestions?

June or July of this year should be early enough.

I suppose if he can't get an Oscar for writing he'll try for an acting one instead.
