JMS responds to a request for his Comic-Con schedule:
I'll be doing a writing workshop (Q&A based) on Thursday, and my
spotlight on Saturday. I will likely be doing some panels as well,
but those haven't been set yet.

I've posted a request for him to post when he finds out about panels, too, since it sounds like there could be important announcements this year judging from the hint he dropped in the recent CBR interview.
I hope everybody who wants to attend got their memberships already because the show's completely sold out.
Yay! Comic-Con is starting to put up the schedule. Thursday will be JMS' writing seminar:
3:30-4:30 J. Michael Straczynski: Professional Writingù Ideas are a dime a dozen. Executing those ideas (instead of assassinating them) is what separates pro from wannabe. But only you know what steps you need to take to get there, so if you show up for this talk, bring questions to ask J. Michael Straczynski, who has created a massively successful cross-platform writing career in movies, television, comics, and print. Room 7AB
Stay tuned...as I find more info I'll post it.
BTW, if you check the home page, they're putting some tickets on Ebay each day it looks like. I think they're posting the times they'll be available via Twitter.
4:45-5:45 Spotlight on J. Michael Straczynski— Triple Eisner-nominated and Comic-Con special guest J. Michael Straczynski presents a freewheeling discussion about his work in comics (Brave and the Bold, Thor, Amazing Spider-Man), television (Babylon 5), movies (Changeling, Ninja Assassin, Forbidden Planet, Lensman and more) and anything else that comes to mind. Every year JMS's talks are a focus of heated conversation, and that's just between us and law enforcement when they show up midway through... Room 6A
Of course, Friday evening is the Eisner awards and JMS and his work are nominated for 3 awards: Best Continuing Series (Thor), Best Limited Series (The Twelve) and Best Writer.

It's quite likely he might turn up on one of the DC Comics panels to talk about his stuff coming up there as well as some of the other publisher's he's got stuff going on with. I doubt if he'll do anything with Marvel. Since none of his DC stuff has been released, I don't see him doing any signings at their booth. Hopefully he'll do at least one signing in the autograph area.
Note that the Eisner's are at an offsite hotel this year at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront (they are also having some TV panels during the day there as well).
Definitely lots of stuff going on at the con that weekend. I'm still waiting for word on the CBLDF opening party (although the Amanda Palmer concert on Friday night is a CBLDF fundraiser with an appearance by Neil Gaiman likely). There's also Battlestar Galactica concerts with Bear McCreary (including VIP seating which might give you a shot at meeting some of the SyFy actors). SyFy is also turning a restaurant at the Hard Rock Cafe into Cafe Diem to promote Eureka.
As usual, I'll be based out of the AZ SF Conventions table in the fan table area (although how much time I'll actually be at the table is unknown).
For those coming to the convention, be advised that at this point I
only have one -- count 'em, one -- autograph session set up, at table
AA 2 at 6:00 Saturday, right after my spotlight.
I'm only going to have an hour, so I'm going to have to be really
strict in enforcing the ten-item limit to make sure that everybody in
line gets a fair chance.
Stars trek to San Diego for Comic-Con
Event evolves into celebrity-filled affair
By GREGORY ELLWOOD
Over the years, superfans have gotten accustomed to seeing their favorite stars at Comic-Con in San Diego, taking for granted the work it takes publicity teams to convince A-listers like Cameron Diaz or Peter Jackson to attend the pop-culture convention for the first time. And who can blame celebs for getting cold feet? Premieres and press junkets seem incredibly predictable when compared with facing the fans directly at Comic-Con, where fielding questions like, "Will you go out with me?" from shut-ins in superhero garb can be the norm. ...
Damn and double-damn. I checked at the WB booth around 11:00 and again at 1:30 and they claimed no knowledge of any 'Ninja Assassin' screening. When I went back at 5:30-ish I was told they'd all been given out. For this I had to do the rat-maze thing *3* times. Got a couple of Green Lantern rings, though, and made some people happy when I gave them the goodie bags I'd snagged.
Damn.
In other news, JMS had his writing panel this afternoon. OUCH! He claimed not to be sick, just to have laryngitis but it sure sounded painful. Sadly the caliber of the questions wasn't all that great in many cases, either. As he put it, they were looking for the 'magic handshake' or secret formula to success but it's a matter of talent, persistence and luck.
Today was JMS' spotlight and he was in much better voice. It still cracked sometimes but it sounded much more like him today.
He started out by saying that he'd heard from a number of people via email asking for him to reprise his MIT speech. This was seconded by voice vote and he gave a slightly shorter version of his talk urging you to embrace the possibility of failure and not listen to the cautious voices that encourage you to stay safe.
- He's still not allowed to say a word about the new project he's got coming up for DC but he hummed a bit and it sounded just Super to me.
- He's got two creator-owned titles that will be coming out from Image. He's in talks with a couple of top artists and has hopes that we might see the first issues by spring 2010.
- When asked, he gave his personal word tht 'The Twelve' would be completed. First he was busy with other things, then Chris Weston was, then it was JMS's turn again but now he should have time to finish it up.
- There's at least one movie project he's working on for a Big Name that he can't talk about yet.
- He's been getting offers to direct more often lately and he's giving that some consideration.
All I can think of. I'll add to this if I remember anything else after listening to the recording.

I have a guess about what the movie is, and who the big name is, but since he can't talk about it, I won't say my guess either. Don't want to get in trouble
