  • Introductions Thread

Hello, I just signed up and I looked around to see if I could find one of these already, but doesn't look like it. Generaly, the appropriate place to sort of say hello to everyone.

I'm mainly one of those geeky B5 fans who is just watching the series through at the moment again and wanted to find somewhere appropriate to get in touch with it's creator and give him a bit of a pat on the back, as a dozen or so years down the line, this series still holds up and stands as a testament to what SF can be like. Obviously JMS' skills have been realised now he's doing a-list hollywood, but it's probably important we keep a close eye on him, keep his head with the fans, so he continues to create amazing work.

Anyway, I wanted to drop by and say hi and if this isn't an appropriate place to do it, and to have other new members of the forum post in, then please accept my apologies!

    Hi Dannage, welcome!

I think we had an intro thread at one point but it's been ages so thanks for starting this one. There are plenty of geeky fans just like you here!

As for getting in touch with JMS, as far as we know he doesn't visit here at all. The best way of contacting him is by posting to the moderated newsgroup rec.arts.sf.tv.B5.moderated . There's more information about that group here.

    Enjoy your stay here!

Great to have you Dannage! I am just itching for new b5 after reading the new scriptbook and the deleted lost tale.

        Another Introductio Andn

Hi All! I'm Ed, the0wl or horned0wl. While I've been involved in B5 sites and wikis before, I'd never thought to join this venue, and, as Dannage so aptly put it, offer another clap on the back to JMS for such an auspicious, enduring, and downright prophetic series! I don't know how much I'll be able to crontribute, but I'll be glad to help where I can, and share the love. Again, Hi All!, and I hope to see y'all around.

        Cheers!

Well, thank you for the welcome you veterans, and welcome to you further new people. We watched the last two episodes last night and for my second time of watching sleeping in the light I only cried a tiny tiny bit (The last time I watched it five years ago I wept like a child, for about three hours! This wouldn't be so bad if I were 15 and a girl, but as a fully grown adult male, I have to hand it to JMS, it sure can depress people when he wants to!)

Ah, now, while I pretty much always cry when watching Sleeping in Light, I don't think it's at all depressing. Yeah, it's a farewell but I don't feel sad, just satisfied.

              Greetings Dannage,

I've been on this board for a while, but have only been (regularly) contributing for about 6 or 7 months (mostly in the B5 quote thread).

I post here more than the moderated usenet group simply because many messages I post never seem to show up. Some do some don't

              Welcome.

It's a moment of perfect beauty. You can indulge in the sweet sadness of it all. In theory it's okay for a grown man to cry, but damn if it doesn't give me a headache.

                Welcome Dannage,

As Jan said, this site has been around since, what '92 or 93? So most people just pop in and say hello when they discover this site. There are probably members who were born after this site was started, and some will die before it goes away. Profound, huh?

                  January 2004?

My profile says that when I joined. I find that hard to believe. Jan, did this site change servers or something? I'm pretty sure I was reading everything on this site bak in '96. I find it hard to believe I had nothing to say until 2004.

I'm not sure when the archives started but the forums began in October of 2003, B5_Obsessed.

Time flies when you're having fun.

                        Hello

Long time lurker, posted a few times, now here's my intro...

I came into the B5 Universe when I was living in Pasadena, and I caught "Shadow Dancing" in syndication. I couldn't believe I blew off this show after the boxing episode in season 1.
Not only was I hooked from that point on, but every episode seemed to have some meaning to what was going on in my life at that time. I'm sure that is not an uncommon phenomenon.
As I went from a struggling free lance web designer, to being with "the right people at the right place at the right time" as we founded MP3.com, to seeing it driven into ruin by our litigation crazed CEO, B5 was always there to give me a perspective.
I look forward to being more a part of the community.

                        Until the audit goes public.

During the time of the Internet Gold Rush, what I bring forward of value to me are some very specific memories.

I remember the old Official WB B5 discussion group with great fondness.
Especially one thread that cracked me up - Ivanova: Babe or Bitch?
How can you not reply to that???
                          Great humor and camaraderie ruled.

(Contrast this to the sci-fi BSG boards, is it just me or is it a very polarized community there?)

Then the first rumors of B5 LOTR...wow!
I actually flew up to Vancouver for the JMS preview event. The last minute ticket was money well spent.
Someone from the Yahoo Vancouver JMS group was amazing enough to pick me up from the airport and get me to the gathering. I don't remember your name, but thank you very much!
What a great time to be into B5...and I think that the future will bring something even better.
Next time I fly there I intend to see the sights, though.
                          Perception is reality...
                          Until the audit goes public.

                            Hello from Novo Babylonia

                            Hi all,

I'm Tony, and I'm new here. I'm from fictionshed.com and I'd love to invite you all to listen to our Babylon 5 based Audio drama over at http://www.novo-b.com or on iTunes.

Please feel welcome to leave feedback. It's been going now for about a year, we have been actively working on episodes since September 2008. We are shortly releasing the newest episode very soon indeed!

Thanks guys, and I'm loving this forum (there are not many B5 ones left)

MOD: Does JMS news fancy a link exchange? let me know
