It's kind of funny they call jms an "aspiring screenwriter".
Isn't that the article that was supposed to reveal a "big surprise"? I don't think there's anything your ECCC report didn't mention, Jan, or am I missing something? If that statement by JMS was meant for people who hadn't heard about your report, my guess would be the surprise referred to Wolfgang Peterson's "The Grays".
Also, the research project addressed in the other thread - a million years into the future? - sounds like something in the spirit of "Childhood's End".

"Proving Ground" is definitely news to me. I don't see anything in IMDb that looks like it might be what he's talking about.
I was kind of hoping to find out what the project is that JMS said is 'near and dear to the hearts' of everyone at the con.

Well, there's not a whole lot we know yet about the spec scripts "Proving Ground" for UA/Tom Cruise and "The Flickering Light" for Imagine Entertainment/Ron Howard.
By the way, the gray aliens in B5 were named the Streib as a nod to Whitley Strieber, the author of "The Grays".

I imagine they use the term "screenwriter" to refer specifically to movies so, since there is only (so far) one movie out there made from a script of his that qualifies him as "aspiring" rather than "established".
Give it a year, and another couple or three movies, and that will undoubtedly change.
And then we can say ... we knew him when he was slightly less famous than he is now!
1 Million Years.

I'm *sure* that the statement JMS made didn't take into account people reading my report. Heck, even one of the regular readers over on the moderated newsgroup commented that he was glad to have "Lensman" confirmed and JMS confirmed that at ECCCas well as it showing up on his IMDb page for a while now. So much for my fond dreams of people anxiously awaiting my posts in order to get the latest JMS News (hey, JMS News...wonder if anybody's every thought of that as a website name...)
