The show has always been fondly remembered by us French. We (my generation) all used to watch it, as far as I can remember, when I was a kid. There has been a French DVD release for quite some time. But I swear I had no idea JMS was part of the staff !

Apparently jms wasn't given a credit on Jayce and it was part of his reason for leaving Filmation (along with Larry DiTillio):

        jms 6/26/1998:

An adventure/SF series "Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors," a dopey concept I again hijacked in an attempt to make it into something more.
        jms 4/17/2000:

We had single writing credits per episode, but not as staffers. We went over to DIC after leaving Filmation when we weren't given the story editor credits we had earned by working as story editors.
        jms 4/19/2000:

They could rewrite if they chose to.

        We convinced them otherwise.

I came across my above post today through a google search for Jayce so I thought I should correct it:

Jayce was a show done by DIC, which Joe started on after leaving Filmation and She-Ra, which was the show he and Larry didn't get story editor credit on. No writers had on-screen credits for their individual scripts on Jayce that I can determine (there were about 20 writers credited at once, but for some reason JMS and Larry weren't in the list).

I do remember the show, but it was such a Star Wars rip-off it was sad. It might be better if JMS wasn't attached to it.

It was long ago in a galaxy far, far away...(well, somebody was bound to say it - might as well be me. )

Hmmm - why is it that essentially every time someone says some video is available on iTunes it cannot be found here (Europe) ?

If it is something I want to see it gets really annoying.

Same thing with everything else being available "US-only" no wonder people resort to "alternative means" in order to get things, when they are not even available . . .

(which is why I poked a bit at the US side when they had the Thor movie after everyone else - nice to be on the early side for a change.)

I can kind of see that with the Jayce/Gillian/Herc being Luke/Obi-Wan/Han Solo dynamic, but that was how the characters were created for the show. That wouldn't have changed whether JMS was on it or not. I don't remember the part of Star Wars where Darth Vader was a transforming sentient mutant plant though.

The whole lost father thing was Star Wars, plant or not. The girl was a de-aged Leia and the knight guy was R2. It was really obvious even for an 8 year old kid.

Luke wasn't searching for his father like Jayce was though, since Obi-Wan said he was dead.

So there are some writing credits on the show. Only scripts written by JMS or Larry got credit for some reason (I suppose it might have been a clause in their contracts since they had left Filmation over credit issues). So if interested in individual episodes, these come from the actual on-screen credits (as opposed to guesses on imdb):

                          JMS Episodes:

                          Lightning Strikes Twice
                          Darksinger
                          A Question of Conscience
                          Underwater, Underpaid
                          The Life Eater
                          The Liberty Stone Part V
                          Steel Aganist Shadow
                          Final Ride at Journey's End
                          The Gardener
                          Quest into Shadow
                          Circus Planet

                          Larry DiTillio Episodes:

                          Swampwitch
                          Braintrust
                          Squiresmith
                          Dreamworld
                          Wasteland
                          The Liberty Stone Part IV
                          The Raid
                          Armada
                          The Purple Tome
                          Time and Time Again

I never thought it was like Star Wars. I remember really liking this back when it was on but again didn't know anything about JMS. It's shocking for me to know retroactively how many things he's worked on that I liked.
"And what kind of head of Security would I be if I let people like me know things that I'm not supposed to know? I mean, I know what I know because I have to know it. And if I don't have to know it, I don't tell me, and I don't let anyone else tell me either. " And I can give you reasonable assurances that the head of Security will not report you for doing so."
"Because you won't tell yourself about it?"

"I try never to get involved in my own life, too much trouble."
