The blurb mentions the title of his David movie though, which I guess is sort of new news:
J. Michael Straczynski
J. Michael Straczynski is the Hugo, Eisner and Inkpot Award winning writer of such books as The Amazing Spider-Man, The Fantastic Four, Supreme Power, The Book of Lost Souls and, starting this summer, Thor. He has just finished work as writer/producer/director of Babylon 5: The Lost Tales, and has written three films for major studios in the last year: World War Z for Paramount/Brad Pitt, Goliath: The Story of David for Universal/Akiva Goldsman, and Changeling for Imagine Entertainment, which is being produced by Ron Howard, starring Angelina Jolie, and directed by Clint Eastwood.
Well this is exciting news on two fronts. I've been out of the circle for a little bit but am going to start paying attention now that i need something to entertain me while I work Shhh! don't tell my boss. I'll be at SD I think this year. Has this David project been something people have been expecting? I guess that's the "historical" film he was talking about?
Yes, JMS as spoken of the King David project before. He said in December:
The screenplay for the film I'm writing for Universal will be turned in
mid-January. Akiva Goldsman is among the producers on this project, a
big budget historical movie based on the life of King David.
I can't see Hollywood not taking the anti-Semitic route there.
Recently, there was a reckoning. It occurred on November 4, 2014 across the United States. Voters, recognizing the failures of the current leadership and fearing their unchecked abuses of power, elected another party as the new majority. This is a first step toward preventing more damage and undoing some of the damage already done. Hopefully, this is as much as will be required.
Being Jewish has nothing to do with one's capacity to be anti-Semitic. See Munich by Spielburg..

I'm not sure what there is to discuss. LIM makes an out of the blue accusation of antisemitism with regard to the makers of the David movie, which isn't just a total non sequitur, but actually in direct contradiction by what little I know of the movie maker in question. I honestly think it is in bad taste to go throwing around accusation like that in a thread like this, but I've no desire to engage his strange accusation, and I'm honestly confused why he brought such an odd point up in this thread in the first place.
Anyway...Comic Con...the last time I tried to make an attempt to go JMS Cancelled, so I was kinda upset by that. What's the dates for this year too? End of July?
Now, Jon...that was WorldCon that he cancelled. And you had a great time anyway. ComicCon is July 26-29. Be prepared, it's HUGE!
Jan
Jeez..I'm getting my cons mixed up haha. I've actually worked a comiccon before because I was in the industry for awhile. So I've been there I guess I'll go..even though I'm going to be in Hawaii 8/1 so it's gonna be a looot of traveling.
