Okay! The full SDCC panel schedule is up now and here's what we have:

    FRIDAY

    July 21 • 3:00pm - 4:00pm
    Room 6DE (seats approx. 884)
    Marvel: Heroes, Hulks, and Super-Soldiers

Marvel editor-in-chief C. B. Cebulski leads a panel featuring Marvel’s solo Super Hero series. J. Michael Straczynski takes Captain America to the streets of Manhattan, while Moon Knight roams the roads of Egyptian lore in David Pepose’s Moon Knight: City of the Dead. Meanwhile, the Hulk takes control of Bruce Banner as Phillip Kennedy Johnson continues his new Hulk run, and the hits coming in across the rest of the action-packed Marvel Universe. Be sure to stay until the end to find out what other heroes will be joining their ranks in their own new titles!

    July 21 • 7:00pm - 8:00pm
Q&A Writing Workshop with J. Michael Straczynski
    Room 11 (seats approx. 504)
In the belief that anyone who succeeds as a writer has an ethical obligation to send the elevator down for the next person, JMS conducts these sessions to give up-and-coming writers the information they need to succeed. This is all Q&A based rather than lecture, so bring good, interesting, useful questions about writing for comics, TV, film, novels, and semi-poetry pamphlets published by the Martian Legation.

    SATURDAY

    July 22 • 6:30pm - 8:30pm
    Babylon 5: The Road Home
    Room 6BCF (seats approx 2,160)
Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment marks the 30th anniversary of the beloved sci-fi saga with the World Premiere of the all-new original animated movie Babylon 5: The Road Home. Travel across the galaxy with John Sheridan as he unexpectedly finds himself transported through multiple timelines and alternate realities in a quest to find his way back home. Along the way, he reunites with some familiar faces while discovering cosmic new revelations about the history, purpose, and meaning of the Universe. Following the screening join the cast and filmmakers for a lively panel discussion and audience Q&A. Produced by Warner Bros. Animation, Babylon 5: The Road Home will be available to own on Digital, 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray and Blu-ray on August 15, 2023.

    SUNDAY

    July 23 • 1:15pm - 2:15pm
    Spotlight on J. Michael Straczynski
    Room 5AB (seats approx. 504)
After a four-year absence, Straczynski returns to Comic-Con (despite repeated requests to the contrary). Expect announcements, revelations, and lively discussions following the Babylon 5 animated movie debut the previous evening, plus news about Straczynski's comics work (including Captain America), audio dramas, novels, and all things Ellisonian.

In addition, Pat Tallman and Claudia Christian have posted that there will be a group signing on Saturday morning but that's not confirmed so far. The autograph sessions should be added to the schedule in the next day or so and I'll post once they're confirmed. Also,JMS has said he'll have a signing at the Marvel booth on Friday and he traditionally has a general signing shortly after his Spotlight panel. Will keep everybody advised.

Sad I'm not going to be there, but I'm wondering how the SAG/AFTRA strike is going to impact the TRH panel since I thought actors aren't supposed to do any press/publicity while on strike. Or is animation exemted because it's covered under a different contract?

Edit: Adding the proscibed actions here:

Except as set forth in the Notice to Members Regarding Non-Struck Work, all covered services and performing work under the TV/ theatrical contracts must be withheld, including but not limited to:

●Principal on camera work, such as:
        ○ Acting
        ○ Singing
        ○ Dancing
        ○ Performing stunts
        ○ Piloting on-camera aircraft
        ○ Puppeteering
        ○ Performance capture or motion capture work;

        ● Principal off camera work, such as:
        ○ ADR/Looping
        ○ TV Trailers (promos) and Theatrical Trailers
        ○ Voice Acting
        ○ Singing
        ○ Narration, including audio descriptive services except as the services may be covered by another collective bargaining agreement referred in the Notice to
        Members Regarding Non-Struck Work
        ○ Stunt coordinating and related services

        ● Background work
        ● Stand-in work
        ● Photo and/or body doubles
        ● Fittings, wardrobe tests, and makeup tests
        ● Rehearsals and camera tests
        ● Scanning
        ● Interviews and auditions (including via self-tape)

        ● Promotion of/publicity services for work under the TV/Theatrical Contracts, such as:
        ○ Tours
        ○ Personal appearances
        ○ Interviews
        ○ Conventions
        ○ Fan expos
        ○ Festivals
        ○ For your consideration events
        ○ Panels
        ○ Premieres/screenings
        ○ Award shows
        ○ Junkets
        ○ Podcast appearances
        ○ Social media
        ○ Studio showcases

        ● Negotiating and/or entering into and/or consenting to:
        ○ An agreement to perform covered services in the future
        ○ Any new agreement related to merchandising connected to a covered project
        ○ The creation and use of digital replicas, including through the reuse of prior work

        ● Performing on a trailer for a struck production or other ancillary content connected to a struck production

JMS has made it clear on Twitter that it's a different union that covers TRH. (ETA: while this is discussing royalties, it makes clear that SAG/WGA isn't involved:

And it seems I was right - as far as JMS is concerned. But the actors were under SAG/AFTRA and so they won't be doing the post-showing Q&A. I'm sorry that that experience will be missed but I understand and support them completely.

There does look to be an encore showing of TRH, though, on Sunday.

Not sure how any of this works, but tried backtracking Patricia Tallman's instragram post about SDCC.
                https://www.instagram.com/p/CuFdG5AIcOt/ (this is unchanged)

It mentions that pre-orders of items for SDCC attendees can be purchased from:
                https://b5events.com/pat-tallman-convention-preorder/ but...

On checking that link Saturday evening, the purchasing page is no longer active.

JMS confirmed on Facebook that the cast can't participate:

                  J. Michael Straczynski - Hang with JMS
The cast were hired via SAG/AFTRA which means they are precluded from appearing. I was hired via the Animation Union local 839 rather than the WGA, so this allows me to attend.
But the good news is that there's a second showing of TRH on Sunday:

                  J. Michael Straczynski - Hang with JMS

ATTENTION B5 FANS ATTENDING San Diego Comic Con: due to demand a SECOND SCREENING of Babylon 5: The Road Home has just been scheduled for Sunday at 3:30 in 6DE for those who won't be able to attend the main screening Saturday night or squeeze in if/when it fills up. (So BE EARLY on Saturday.)
So, Sunday is the Day of Scampering! JMS's spotlight will let out about 2:05, his signing starts at 2:30 and then the encore TRH at 3:30 (which JMS has said he'll be there for but will have to leave his signing a few minutes early).

SDCC can be a fair amount of work!!!

Your Intrepid Reporter is here in San Diego! There's so much going on at this one, I may split these reports into another thread but for now we'll just add them here. Nothing JMS-wise happening today or tomorrow but starting Friday... Meanwhile, here's what this year's badges look like (appropriate lanyards added by me ) just to start things off.

JMS reports back on SDCC. It was a GREAT time at the screenings. The second was under-attended as it was the final item for Sunday but I think JMS may have under-estimated the Saturday attendance a bit.
