Yes, SDCC *is* a lot of work. But it's great energy and hey, how often can you say that you've been in the front row watching River Dancin Zombies?!? Kinda makes it all worthwhile, y'know?

Just got this notice that in addition to his 'spotlight' signing in the main autographing section of SDCC, JMS will have a signing on Friday at the Simon & Schuster booth:

    2pm – 3pm – J. Michael Straczynski (Together We Will Go)

    Quite the schedule!

    - Thursday - 'Neurotic' panel
    - Friday - S&S signing
    - Saturday - Spotlight panel, 'spotlight' signing and Writing panel
So far nothing I've found for Sunday. But there's still another week +...

Haven't looked at any recently but generally, the stuff that gets video'd are the Big Panels With Big Names. Which usually boils down to two places in the con: Hall H (which holds 6100 people) and Ballroom 20 (which holds 4800 people). Most other places, any but the most casual of filming is forbidden. That said, I do plan on *audio* recording all of JMS' panels and I'll find some way to post them for those interested.

Oh, and I'm waiting for more information but it looks like somebody's doing a 'Remembering Babylon 5' panel. Will post details when available.

Was reading about, and noticed that there appears to be some "video coverage" of SDCC.

But am guessing it is such a HUGE event that the best chance to see one of the Really Interesting Panels would be if a Hero recorded it.
Video Recording Glasses? Camera mounted in a Hat, etc.

And so it continues! Saturday's schedule is full of goodness with TWO JMS panels and one by none other than ME and PMVanova!

First up is JMS' Spotlight panel:
    ---
    Spotlight on J. Michael Straczynski

    Saturday, July 23, 2022

    1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

    Room 7AB

    DESCRIPTION

The Hugo and Eisner Award–winning creator of Babylon 5 and Crusade, co-creator/writer/producer for Sense8, comics writer for Marvel, DC, and Image, and writer for such films as Changeling, Thor, WWZ and others, J. Michael Straczynski discusses the next chapters in his career: writing a host of new comics for AWA, two new feature films, his next novel, two new audio dramas, and a return to Marvel Comics. Plus: an exclusive briefing on the status of the Babylon 5 revival for The CW.
Room 7 A-B holds just over 500 people.

    Next is his writing workshop:

    -----
    Becoming a Writer

    Saturday, July 23, 2022

    6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

    Room 11

    DESCRIPTION

Given an overwhelming amount of mythology about how to break in as a writer, it’s essential to make sure that newbie writers have the most accurate and useful information possible. Hence this no-holds-barred question-and-answer session with J. Michael Straczynski, the award-winning writer/producer for over 400 comics, another 300 TV episodes, and 5 movies, along with novels and nonfiction books. Bring your best (and ideally most relevant to others) questions on writing for film, TV, comics, novels and other forms, and get the straight skinny from someone who has done, and is still doing it all.
Room 11 holds up to 500 people also but sometimes they put the writing workshop in a classroom set-up so that could reduce it to 288

And finally - there's me and PMVanova!
    -----
    Babylon 5: Gaming Table

    Saturday, July 23, 2022

    2:30 PM - 3:30 PM

    Room 10

    DESCRIPTION

Jan Schroeder (B5 Books, JMSnews.com ) and P M Sallume hosts a lighthearted, fast-paced panel playing Babylon 5 specific Trivial Pursuits, B5 Bingo, and Family (Drazi) Feud. This panel offers fun and prizes.
    Room 10 holds 280 people.

Not sure if this question could even be answered anymore. All of 'em?

Once would have thought Rorschach from Watchmen, but in the more current era, perhaps Batman (from Batman v Superman) would be a contender. And guess since the "DC Universe" keeps dropping hints, perhaps Superman from Injustice. At least those in the "do more harm that good" category.

Aaannnndddd......We're off! Nope, not leaving for SDCC yet, the schedule's starting to roll out. And with only Wednesday and Thursday posted we have a JMS panel already and it sounds like FUN!!

Who's the Most Neurotic Superhero Now?

    Thursday, July 21, 2022

    2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
    1 hour
    Add to calendar

Grand 10 & 11, Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina

    DESCRIPTION

Batman has always had his childhood trauma, and ever since the dawn of Marvel's “superheroes with real problems,” many more costumed adventurers have been letting their psychological damage show. Spider-Man has his angst, Captain America has survivor guilt, the Scarlet Witch has reality-twisting grief, and Moon Knight has somebody else inside his head. These are just a few of the mental challenges that modern superheroes deal with. Danny Fingeroth ( Superman on the Couch) moderates as psychologists Travis Langley ( Batman and Psychology; Daredevil Psychology) and Janina Scarlet ( Superhero Therapy) raise the psychological questions, and superhero writers J. Michael Straczynski ( The Amazing Spider-Man), Amy Chu ( Deadpool; Poison Ivy), and John Semper Jr. ( Spider-Man: The Animated Series) explore the answers. Which superhero wins this title?
(note for some reason the schedule converts to whatever time zone you're in when looking so I've adjusted it from the 5:00 PM it showed for me.)

I'm sure some of that happens but probably not too much. I've never seen passes go for more than $350 or so for a one-day pass, (though I don't look for scalping) so it would be a lot of work for not as much return as one would hope. I know there's a single-digit number of tickets any one person can buy.

?? Wonder if Drazi Feud will start with the players picking cloths out of a barrel - Green v Purple - and if they get The Star, then they are Green (or Purple) Leader. ??
Well.... Maybe some form of that... Sneak preview:

So...Okay, I'm not THE JMS, but I'm 'a' JMS (shared initials). So you folks are officially the first to know that I'll be 'appearing' at SDCC next month, too! I'm not able to say when as yet but I'll be hosting a B5 Games panel. NOT, I hasten to say, a CCG or LARP or that sort of thing, but there will be Bingo, and Trivia and 'Drazi Feud' (a la 'Family Feud) and hopefully a good time will be had by all!

Anybody else going to be there (alas, most attendees will have bought their tickets for the 2020 show and rolled them over so none were sold this year)?

I almost forgot to look for JMS' blurb for SDCC! They're usually funny and tease a bit of what we'll learn at the con (preview night is now just 6 weeks away!!)

I think that Jan would be an excellent Ranger.

And what do Rangers do?? They can smuggle things - even people - into and out places.
If the Rangers were able to get G'Kar on (and off) Narn after the Centauri invaded, should be easy for Jan to tow some Extra Boxes into SDCC for any event she may be hosting. ...If some of the boxes are 5-6 feet long, seem to be over 100lbs each, and have air holes... Nothing to see here - move along.?

...I spy, with my little Eye, something beginning with "E"
    - Even More Boxes.
