New JMS interview in the San Diego Comic-Con update with info on upcoming projects including the name of the TV project JMS has in development with Touchstone.

Yep, big PDF not recommended for those without a very fast connection. Might be a bit slow even for some fast connections, depending on the server.

It's a sort of e-zine, the interview is in page 30 (page 32 of 60 in the PDF).

Actually, I'm quite disappointed... JMS said in one of his interviews that the new show he created wasn't B5-connected, but would have a definite appeal to B5 fans (something like that, can't remember the quote correctly). And now he reveals that this series is about "murder mystery / police procedure"! WTF?? Knowing JMS and being given the show's title, "Borrowed Lives", we could speculate that it will be something like Chris Carter's "Millenium"... In any case, what appeal could it have to a hardcore B5 fan like me??

I remember his saying that about the Rising Stars comic but I don't think I recall his saying that about this particular series. He's been pretty tight-lipped about this one.

Maybe I'm just imagining things... Anyway, I don't think there is any room on TV for another "murder mystery" series, with all this CSI stuff around. If the show was set in a some kind of "film noir / Blade Runner" universe, then it would possibly have a chance to survive.

Guess we'll have to wait and see. One thing we do know, JMS doesn't generally do the expected-which is a good bit of the fun for me.

Unfortunately, that's true. At this point, if I understand how it goes, they're still working on getting somebody to commission a pilot. Then they need to make the pilot-which may or may not be televised. Then the series has to be commissioned and then they have to make the show then they need to put it on the schedule.

It's kind of amazing that anything ever gets on the air!

If the pilot's not made yet (can't read the article from here), then unless it's fasttracked, it won't make midseason this year. Earliest we'll see it is September '07. Damn.

Very true indeed If I remember correctly, it took them something about half a year to move from "The Gathering" to "Midnight on the Firing Line" And that was preceded by almost a five year-struggle to bring "The Gathering" to screen...

But I have to admit that G'Kar and Londo's clothes improved a great deal between the pilot and the first ep

Bear in mind that Warners and the then-PEN Network wanted to wait and see what sort of viewing figures they got from 'The Gathering' before they did anything. I think they were pretty happy with the way it turned out, but if the numbers were exceptionally low, they may well have had second thoughts about going forward with a series.

Anything from JMS is worth waiting for and watching. Hopefully the network execs will keep out and let him do his thing
