One of the few pieces of information that we actually have is that whatever the show is, it'll be shooting in Vancouver in the spring. That pretty much precludes anything to do with Lost which shoots in Hawaii.
The island has to be Hawaii for sure, but if it the spin-off was Dharma Initiative based, spin off based, or pretty much anything except a tropical island ; I am sure that Vancouver could cover it!
That's true. Still, would anything Lost-related fit in with the quote from JMS in the Infuze interview that was posted in the "New JMS INterview" thread:
Can you tell us anything about the new tv show you've signed on to produce? I'm sure you can't reveal any major details, but will it appeal to Babylon 5 fans? Closer in tone to B5 or Jeremiah?
It's nothing like either one of them. Suffice to say that I think it will definitely be of interest to B5 fans and fans of science fiction in general.
I can't see it, since Lost has been very careful to NOT self-dientify as Science Fiction last I heard.
The Lost spinoff rumor is a new one for me, although it could fit into the "network series for fall 2006" Joe's mentioned in the past. I think the script he just finished is likely for the more emminent show that has been discussed on the other thread.
They shoot a lot of stuff in Vancouver, including the Stargates. Hmmm...
Recently, there was a reckoning. It occurred on November 4, 2014 across the United States. Voters, recognizing the failures of the current leadership and fearing their unchecked abuses of power, elected another party as the new majority. This is a first step toward preventing more damage and undoing some of the damage already done. Hopefully, this is as much as will be required.
I've posted this in another thread, but I thought that I would put it here too. Lee from www.sftv.org posted this on his weblog on Sunday, Oct. 30.
In one of those recent posts, Straczynski indicated he was lined up to be showrunner of a "companion series" that would start filming in Vancouver next spring if it got the go-ahead. About the only thing that really fits that description would be the Masters of SciFi series in development by IDT Entertainment, whose Masters of Horror just debuted on Showtime. Here's an IDT press release on what they have announced so far, including scripts by Harlan Ellison and Ray Bradbury based on their own work and planned stories by Robert A. Heinlein, Stanislaw Lem, and H.G. Wells. Where Harlan goes, Joe probably isn't too far behind....
Yes, it does seem like a valid possibility but remember, it hasn't been confirmed yet. All we know for sure is that JMS posted that he's completed the first script that was due by the end of January.
A bunch of executive producers are mentioned in the article but no mention of a certain showrunner or script editor. I'm going to see what I can get out of them assuming the showrunner doesn't post something about it. Surprised to see that Harlan's "Repent Harlequin" isn't the story mentioned with his name, though...
