I use Mozilla/Netscape mail/newsreader. I think ALL mailprograms have a newsreader, since the reading/browsing functions are quite similar, even though the protocol is not the same.

What you DO need is access to a news server. I use .... hmm thinking, cannot remember the name (I'm not at home right now). I THINK it is news.cis.dfn.de which I am very happy with. It is not impossible that your internet provider has a news service also.

If you use a free newsserver you should get info of how to connect. When you have the server name, try entering the tools/edit or whatever section of your newsreader.

And, BTW, the newsgroup that JMS usually posts to is rec.arts.sf.babylon5.moderated. Just enter that in your newsreader.

Hope this rambling helps somewhat :-)

        Thanks Sheridan =)

Still haven't quite got it all figured out - but the application of thought can do wonders so i'm told. (i await my brain's compliance in this matter )

Usenet existed on the Internet before the web had been invented. It was the way "forums" were run in the early days of the Internet. Now that web based forums can do so much more Usenet is starting to show it's age.

Non-computer people seem to thing the web IS the Internet instead of realising the Internet is a series of computers that make up a large network and the web is a program that works on that network.

It is a way of accessing the newsgroup through WWW.
But it is not the "correct" way to browse the newsgroup.
But is works equally well (better?), so go for it!

                Have fun!
