They will be coming out in trades, but I haven't been able to find the Dr. Spectrum tradeback. It came out in July and virtually impossible to find. If both Nighthawk and Hyperion become equally impossible to find trades when they're released, I'll place them on my list of "Buy it when I find it, if they're not there no worries". The third Supreme Power Trade Vol. 3 comes out in October also.

So far I've only read the first Nighthawk issue. I *think* they're probably going to be mainly character-intense. For me that's essential, especially considering the lack of thought balloons in SP. Your mileage...

You generally get the trades, right? Won't the minis go into those?

Are the mini-series for Supreme Power (Dr. Spectrum, Nighthawk, and Hyperion) essential reading in following the story, or are they optional like the Rising Stars mini-series?

Trip to the comic shop 9/28

Picked up 3 JMS comics today. I've only read two so far but it seems to be a particularly quotable month.

In The Amazing Spider-Man (#524), you'd swear that JMS had written these words a few weeks ago instead of, I'm pretty sure, several months ago. Peter questioned Tony Stark's judgment about some preparations he'd made in case of emergency (she says vaguely) and Tony replies in part:

The logic of the right choice is cold and hard more often than it is warm and fuzzy, Peter.
Too true. Sometimes it's real easy to 'back seat drive' and second guess how things are done and the priorities chosen, huh? I think we've seen that a lot the past few weeks.

And then in Fantastic Four (#531), a new friend tells Reed:

I sense in you...a key unturned...a sadness...you look to the sky when you should look to your heart...for the sky matters not...without a heart that can apprehend its beauty...can appreciate the moments lost by chasing mysteries...in distant places...watching...seeing...but not living.
I've only read a couple of pages of the first Supreme Power mini about Hyperion but I think it's going to break my heart.

    Thoughts anybody?

Oh, and both Spidey and FF have a full page ad for The Book of Lost Souls issue #2 that's just beautiful.
