Well, I know a lot of people who don't like comics, so this was probably done for those types so that they could still enjoy a great JMS epic.

Novels add a lot of detail, too. On the other hand, if the writer sucks, there is the potential that it could make RS very boring.

Wow, do 1 and 2 have novelizations?

That looks like it's a novelization, not the trade.

    This is interesting:

    Publisher: I Books; (September 1, 2005)

Can this be incorrect? The first post in this thread indicates that Book 3 will be out in the spring.

I am halfway through "Power" and all I have to say is...shitfire. This is the best comic series ever. Ever. It blows all others away. I kind of hope a movie is not made, as they most likely would not do it "right."

It's kind of a bummer that we don't get more bad guy POV with Patriot. Maybe later in my reading, I guess?

Hey, whatever happened to the rising stars movie? Has the project been dropped altogether?
It's been dead air and radio static on the project ever since the blow-up over it. If it isn't actually dead by now, they must still be re-writing the hell out of it. Either way, signs don't look so good.

Haven't heard anything about it for ages. As you may recall, the fact that Top Cow had revisions done to the script (not unusual) while denying same to JMS (a violation of his contract) was one of the points of contention that held up finishing the story.

As for needing the comics to appreciate the full context of the film...I guess it'll depend on the end product. If it were entirely JMS' script I don't think we'd need to worry about it though I'm sure that the comics would provide subtleties to appreciate. If not JMS then I'm less certain but I'm sure it's possible that it'll be done correctly.

    Hi Bloodshot!

Thanks for the info. Knowing it wouldn't be too much longer, I just finished catching up on all the issues I'd missed. Looks like I may be making 2 trips to the comic shop next month!

I'm SO glad that it worked out so that the story could be finished.

Rising Stars Update from Top Cow

Greetings all... long time lurker, first time poster.

I, like many of you, am anxiously awaiting the conclusion of Rising Stars. A friend, who is in the same predicament, has gone so far to email Top Cow numerous times demanding updates. Yesterday, he got a response:

If you are receiving this, then you have, at some point, sent a query to me regarding the conclusion of Rising Stars. Of course I understand (probably better than anyone) how disappointing the wait has been. I would like to personally apologize for the delay.

That said, I am also writing to finally answer your questions.

Rising Stars #22 is finished and just waiting on final approval from Mr. Straczynski. I expect it to be in stores on or before the 10th of November.

Rising Stars #23 is drawn and is being colored as we speak. It will be out the beginning of December.

Rising Stars #24 is scheduled for January.

The third volume Trade for collecting issues #17-24 is on the schedule for next spring and a Deluxe Hardcover edition of the entire series is tentatively set for release next summer.

We will also be producing the Laurel Darkhaven mini-series titled Rising Stars: Untouchable will be produced next spring as well.

Again, I apologize as whole-heartedly as I can for long absence of this book and hope that I you will be as excited as I am to learn the fate of these great characters.

    Sincerely,
    --
