  • Bullet Points Podcast

    Hi all,

I was recently involved in a podcast reviewing Bullet Points by JMS.

If anyone's interested in listening or discussing the podcast or the comic, you can find it here.

Not one of the best JMS comics really! But the upshot of this conversation was that my co-host finally, FINALLY agreed to watch Babylon 5! He's already on Season 2, and loving it...it's only taken me 12 years of harrassment.

Hey Jon. A fellow UK based B5 fan! Welcome!

I had to google 'Bullet Points', looks like that one may be best left burried!

Really great your friend is finally giving B5 a go. People can sometimes take some convincing, but once they become invested, there's little else to rival that first viewing of B5. One thing I always find interesting is asking them to go back to Season 1 after watching the whole series. Gives you a whole different perspective on those early episodes!
Captain John Sheridan: I really *hate* it when you do that.

    Kosh: Good!

Hi there, thanks for the warm welcome Whereabouts in the UK are you? I live in Woking, probably the most sci-fi town going - the other Thwipping Boy is in Folkestone.

I'm in York. Just listening to your B5 related podcast now, and it's very entertaining.

I ouldn't disagree with you more on Bullet points, but it is a personal thing.

The combination of JMS writing and the intriguing concept, how a single event can reshapre our known universe. It also is a ncie gateway for fans in to a particular storyline without having to plough through decades of established canon, retcons and so on.

On a personal note I love "alternate take" minis or one shots. As fans a lot of us are aware, at leat in a sort of global zeitgeist perspective, of the established stories of most major comic book characters. Seeing these ideas turned on their heads or taken from a new perspctive, how the importance of their lives can turn on a single event. Plus as a trainee linguist and fan of etymology. bullet points wokrs on several levels, both in the literal sense of the pullet and in the powerpoint sense of our lives boiling down to a series of short, pithy statements.

Boosebaster, feel free to use the above in your podcast, if you wish I can record my thoughts in an audio file or we can skype, PM me for contact etails and info. I am in Finland so two hours ahead of you, early ornings not an issue.

"There are no good wars. War is always the worst possible way to resolve differences. It degenerates and corrupts both sides to ever more sordid levels of existence, in their need to gain an advantage over the enemy. Those actively involved in combat are almost always damaged goods for the rest of their lives. If their bodies don't bear scars, their minds do, ofttimes both. Many have said it before, but it can't be said to enough, war is hell. "

From what I read online, it didn't sound very good... but I'm acquiring the comic digitally to give it a look. More thoughts when I'm done reading.
