  • Book of Lost Souls re-start - SPOILERS

Looks like it's time to start a new thread for the Book of Lost Souls. One of the great things about the Joe's Comics imprint is that he's able to re-start this title and has brought back Colleen Doran as artist.

Just found this tweet from Colleen:

Going to @DenverComicCon ? I'll be giving away 250 copies of my upcoming series for @ImageComics w/ @straczynski at my booth.
Now, I don't see JMS listed as a guest but when I asked about the free issue, Colleen replied:

@JanMSchroeder @DenverComicCon @ImageComics @straczynski Going to give out free copies of the Marvel edition of #1! Nice preview, hunh? LOL!
So if you can't make it (like me), it doesn't look like you'll have to comb Ebay looking for a convention exclusive. If you missed this title the first time around, you can buy it here (as well as Colleen's other titles), directly from Colleen. I highly recommend it!!

ETA: Duh! For info on Denver Comic Con: http://denvercomiccon.com/dcc/

Looks like it's not going to be back. Just found this post by Colleen Doran:

It links to an interview in May 2014 which mentions BoLS but Colleen notes:

ah, not too happy about that, but what can you do. Tie him up and make him write it? I could probably beat him in a fair fight, but whatever.
Yeah, I was really disappointed, but what can you do. JMS has other things going on and I wish him the best.
I felt like I'd been punched in the gut when that book got the axe, lemme tell ya. Man, sometimes this biz will break your heart in 20 different ways.
I had hoped that it was just on the back burner given all of JMS' other projects. Loved this series a lot.

But...to be honest, I just don't think he's got time to do comics at the moment. The wait for Sidekick to finish has gotten really bad and I'm wondering if the full run on Dream Police will finish or peter out.

        A real shame.

I'm in no way invested in the series, but it seems comics can often fall to the wayside when bigger things call. There are still plenty of series I've loved that never got a proper send off. Warren Ellis' FELL was one that was brilliant and never got past 9 issues. Those 9 issues are all absolute GOLD, but Ellis is now a published novelist and is getting involved in TV and film. Templesmith was also involved with FELL, and anyone that liked Ten Grand would probably dig the hell out if it. Some gorgeous art.

        Some parallels there for sure!
Captain John Sheridan: I really *hate* it when you do that.

        Kosh: Good!
