JMS posted a link to the official press release for "Protectors, Inc." coming Nov. 6.

Image Comics has announced J. Michael Straczynski's next project, Protectors, Inc., coming in November.

WhatÆs it like to be a hero in a world without villains? In PROTECTORS, INC., the life of a superhero is wonderful, thanks to a bevy of corporate sponsors, an adoring public, polite rivalries, sports franchises, and best of all, no super-powered bad guys to worry about. Wonderful, that is, until a hero is murdered in such a way that the only possible culprit is an unknown person with superpowers, throwing the status quo into upheaval. PROTECTORS, INC. comes from a place of deep appreciation for genre fiction.
    Should be interesting.

Why does JMS keep trying to take my MONEY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

And yes it does sound very interesting. You know it would really help if I could start hearing about JMS projects I am NOT going to be interested in. How about that? Where are the ones I don't have to buy?

That's probably one you should go over to Facebook and ask him for yourself. I'm sure he'll get right on it.

Thanks, OD. I've been watching Ebay and haven't found a single one of the con exclusives. Never seen that before. And I wanna read it 3 weeks early!

There were some issues with art and coloring when getting Sidekick ready for the early release, I wonder if some of your confusion might be related to the same sort of problem. Guess time will tell.

Since you've got the physical issue, any thoughts on the audio drama of the issue?

Once again I suck and have not listened to it. I'm in Anaheim for a convention right now so no time. Hopefully when I get back.

*Finally* got a copy of the NYCC exclusive! Since it's almost a week till release, I'm spoiler-protecting this.

This is very much an introductory issue. We don't even know much of anything about the narrator at this point, except that he's a detective named Riley and he doesn't seem to think much of the Protectors except for the original one, a soldier named The Patriot and another called The Angel. We do get the history of the Protectors, too.

There are a couple of mysteries set up, one in the beginning of the book, the other at the end. Plus, of course, one wonders what Riley thinks about the Angel and why he's as cynical as he is about the rest of the Protectors.

I don't think there's any connection between the Patriot and Addison, the CIA agent. In fact, my impression was that once Mueller (the man Addison was escorting) got far enough away from the car, it exploded. I can see how there's a little too much sameness between Addison, Riley and the unmasked Patriot, though. It's a shame because all of the Protectors have very distinct looks. Otherwise, I enjoyed the art and the way pages flowed.

As usual, the audio version was great. I'm really enjoying them a lot.

JMS just posted tonight that he's gotten his advance copies of Ten Grand #5 with art by CP Smith so it looks like next Wednesday we'll get a double helping of Joe's Comics.

Did everyone remember to pick this up Wednesday? I haven't gotten mine yet, but it is waiting with my Ten Grand #5. Still haven't heard when the next Sidekick is coming.

I asked my comic shop and he said Sidekick will be out on the 27th.

My copy of Proectors, Inc. just arrived yesterday. On the cover it says "includes free audio version" Apparently that is at this link - with some familiar names in the cast.

It is a little over 11 minutes long. It starts immediately when you go to the page. I just heard the beginning to verify what it was and will listen/read the comic later today.
