Is JMS writing a WATCHMEN prequel comic?

I hope this whole project turns out to be a rumour. I adore Watchmen, but it's a complete story and doesn't need a prequel - especially not one written by anyone other than Alan Moore.

The Watchmen sequel/prequel rumors have floated around the internet since the internet was born. I really hope JMS isn't on that project. It's one of those things that no matter who does it or how good it is, it's going to be hated.

I posted that question on JMS's Facebook page weeks ago but got no response, so I'm assuming one will not be forthcoming for the time being.

I've seen the rumors but JMS hasn't said anything about it as yet.

There has been lots of rumors about DC Comics secretly preparing a quartet of miniseries that would serve as prequels to the groundbreaking WATCHMEN graphic novel. I haven't been following the rumors to closely but in this story from Bleeding Cool is a mention that JMS was working on one of the miniseries.

Any thoughts?
