And here's a completely different reaction to this issue: http://www.comicsbulletin.com/soapbo...0274997927.htm
I don't know enough about continuity to have an opinion but my memory doesn't say anything about these stories being in continuity - quite the opposite, in fact.

Wow, I'll say! Although I had no beef with the coloring of the issue, I'd've gladly swapped the cover artist for the interior artist for the good of the story. Like you said, their faces were all the same. No expression.
Oh, well. Hopefully he won't be a judge for the Eisner's next year.

Jan - you mentioned to me that JMS had a goal for Brave and the Bold in terms of sales but couldn't remember what it was.
"Nrama: In an interview over at CBR, you said you promised DC Editorial that by 2011 youÆd have Brave & the Bold squarely in the top 30. IÆd doubt you, but you did it with Thor quite quickly. Can you tell us about that, and what you have planned to get Brave & the Bold there?"

I don't know if he can do it. Despite the reviews that it's getting being really amazing everywhere I turn...I still don't see that many people picking up the book. Which is really sad. It's one of the best comics out there.

Picked it up today and loved it. I agree with your review that the art was lacking when it came to the faces of the ladies but that didn't detract from a powerful story.
I'd definitely recommend this one to someone just jumping in.

Review'd. If you have thought about dipping your toe in to read the JMS comics and have not, pick up this issue. Brave and the Bold is anthology, so you're not missing anything in terms of previous issues. There is some stuff that you have to have a little dc universe knowledge of to be impactful but not a ton and it's explained pretty well.
This might be my favorite comic JMS has ever written.

Thanks for the reminder. I've found a new comic shop I want to try out.

Brave and the Bold #33 out this week!
Just a heads up for the JMS collectors.
I read a commentary on JMS being on Supes/WW that said "knowing DC, they'll do something stupid like not put his name on the cover, not market the book at all like brave and the bold, or just not feature any of the main characters in the book so that no one reads it."
Has anyone heard of any problems with the way Brave and the Bold is being marketed? I haven't heard JMS sound unhappy in any interviews.Tags: None
