JMS had this to say about it at SDCC:
A new book of mine is coming out this summer called æBullet PointsÆ from Marvel. It basically takes the position of æWhat happens if a bullet goes astray?Æ in the history of the Marvel Universe.

Lemme explain: We have devalued life, to a large extent, in this culture. We see 10,000 killed over here, 500 killed over there, itÆs a number after a while. I wanted to reinforce the value of one single human life and the power of one bullet to change the world. As a bullet changed the world in Memphis, in Dallas, in an L.A. hotel with Bobby Kennedy, with Gandhi and Archduke Ferdinand in Sarajevoàone bullet can change the world. I wanted to bring it small.

So the premise of the book in issue oneàthose of you who are familiar with Steve RogersÆ Captain America will remember that in that story he gets the Super Soldier Serum from the German scientist, the scientist is assassinated by German agents, thatÆs the only dose ever produced, he becomes Captain America, onward.

I moved that attempt up 24 hours so [the German agent] gets the guy before he gives Steve Rogers the Super Serum. And in the process, the bullet that kills [the scientist] goes through and kills the young kid MP whoÆs standing behind him whose name is Ben Parker. Who was not there for Peter growing up so his life takes an entirely different direction.

Over here we have Steve Rogers who never became Captain America. [They say to him] ôWe have this program that we kind of swiped from the Chinese called the Iron Man Project. We can put you into this shell which will be very painful and put terrible stress on your heart and itÆs going to kill you but itÆs there if you want to do it to help the cause against the Germans.ö Steve says ôYeahö, so his life goes on a whole different arc.

And inch by inch, year by year we track over 60 years how that one bullet completely transforms the Marvel Universe to show that the consequences of one death have results beyond the immediate, beyond one body in a coffin and reinforce the importance of one life.

Tommy Lee [Edwards], the artist on this is amazing. ThereÆs some of his stuff online and itÆs like photorealistic stuff. His period stuffÆs gorgeous. I commend it to you very highly. IÆm very proud of this book.
Sounds interesting. Hopefully one won't have to be too well versed in the origins of various characters to get the point.

Hmm..this idea doesn't excite me too much. I'm gonna get it of course, but I dunno..the premise seems to be a kinda has been done before. "What if?" only renamed. Not to sound down on the great maker, of course
