  • Book of Lost Souls #5 - Spoilers

Oh, wow...this just keeps getting better with each issue. As much as I've been enjoying JMS's comics, this is the first time that I've actually lost myself in an issue regardless of pages of advertisements and/or my surroundings. I think for the first time I'm probably going to get the trade paperback when it comes out because it's bound to be even more powerful without the ads.

We certainly learn a lot from this one, too. Each issue gives us a touch more information about Mystery and about the situation that Jonathan is in. Negotiations certainly played a major part in this issue and there's certainly going to be repercussions from the deal that Jonathan made to save Theo.

Colleen, in case I haven't mentioned it here before, the art on these is just perfect! I don't read a lot of comics but recent experiences with the 'The Other' Spidey books taught me how distracting art can be when it's not to my taste (not bad, just not to my taste).

Excellent issue! Now I've got to wait until April for the next one? Drat! But at least now I know more about what's on the cover of #6.

I just picked up mine too and read it at work, which I don't usually do. And I was pulled into the story too, despite the noise around me. I like the cover also - the picture has been on my computer on and off for awhile now

Mine, too...which is kind of dangerous, I found. I almost told the comic shop guy that I already had that issue!

I guess I'm so used to seeing it that I couldn't find the issue on the rack - the guy in the comic shop had to point it out to me

page 12, panel 2: "See, that's the thing about shepherds. They need a wolf out here preying on sheep, because without the wolf, well -- who needs the shepherd?"

I know this is a reworking of the old saying (paraphrasing): Without the light there would be no darkness (or something to that extent).

But, the phrasing just...made think of different possibilities. No, that's not the word I'm looking for. The perspective it gives really hit me. You know how something can be familiar, then one day, you notice something...different that you hadn't before; right there in front of you for god knows how long.

Well, off to read JMS latest FFour.

Yeah, Mystery is definitely getting REAL interesting...and more mysterious.

I will work to elevate you, just enough to bring you down. Why can't we drink forever? I just want to start this over!" TOOL
