    B5 Triologies and Novels / Again


    Cheers every one
    If some of you remmber I posted a thread regarding the cost of buying the three Famous B5 triologies from amazon, and I was complaining about how expensive it was.

    Well the other day I could not take it any more so I ordered them from amazon.com (excpet the last book of the legions of fire which I had to put a separate order from amazon.co.uk) and they should be arriving in three weeks, I will be paying more than 130 USD but I believe they deserve it I actually though to my self "Hey if I go with my friends to a descent resturant I will be paying even more than that, and these novels are so damn precious.

    Really it did not make any since that I HishamT the BIG B5 fan do not have those three triologies

    I can not wait to put my hands on them. Since all I do was reviewing the comments and notes on amazon. Well now I will be having the real stuff.

    It is strange how this show managed to touch me deep in, although I used to watch TV alot but no show has managed to leave such an impact on me except for B5 (may be the lord of the rings)

    So my question is which triology I should start with.
    I was thinking to start with the Legions of Fire since it seem to be the one in which most of the heat is going.

    Start with whichever trilogy grabs you at first. You can't go wrong with any of them. I started with the Psi-Corps trilogy since it was the only one I could find in it's entirety at Borders. The other trilogies I had to order 1 or 2 books to complete the set.

      The technomage series is the first one to end, chronologically. However, it is also the most difficult in terms of concepts and, for my money, the best.

      I would start with the Psi Corps trilogy. It has some fun stuff at the start and is pretty straightforward. Then, Legions of Fire because it expands, again, on what you have already seen. Finally, the TM series because it has the most "wow" moments of new insights and if you read it first the others will seem less interesting/"revealing." There are parts of the Technomage series that are way overdone, as well, and you might even get a sour view of the whole trilogy business the fifteenth time you read in excruciating detail about Galen scouring himself, so maybe you should read this series last for that reason!
      I believe that when we leave a place, part of it goes with us and part of us remains. Go anywhere in the station, when it is quiet, and just listen. After a while, you will hear the echoes of all our conversations, every thought and word we've exchanged. Long after we are gone .. our voices will linger in these walls for as long as this place remains. But I will admit .. that the part of me that is going .. will very much miss the part of you that is staying.

        I would read the centauri trilogy cause it is not only my personal favorite but I think the best.

          When you read the end of last book in the Centauri series, have a tissue on hand. Even though I was prepared for the end of Londo, since I knew about it from back in Season 1, I wasn't prepared for how it affected me.

          When I finished the book I was kind of sad. I went into the other room to say something to my husband .... and suddenly burst into tears. He gave me a hug and I continued on my way.

          (BTW, Londo is my favourite character so results may vary )

            I really enjoyed the Psi Corp trilogy. I kinda felt sorry for Bester at the end of book 3. The Technomage trilogy gives some insite into the Vorlons and Shadows, really enjoyed that part.

              I think you have a lot of good reading ahead of you. Personally, I'd read them as they were published, Psi Corps, Legions of Fire, and then The Passing of the Technomages. However, Psi Corps, The Passing of the Technomages, and Legions of Fire, would also work.

              Psi Corps is a standalone trilogy, but the other two trilogies both heavily feature technomages.

              Here's where they fit, chronologically (including Dell #7 & #9):
              • Babylon 5 Book #7 - The Shadow Within (11/2256 - 01/2257)
              • Babylon 5 Book #9 - To Dream in the City of Sorrows (Marcus in 10/2260, recalling events of 1/2259-9/2260)

              • Dark Genesis - The Birth of the Psi Corps (2115-2189)
              • Deadly Relations - Bester Ascendant (2189-2258)
              • Final Reckoning - The Fate of Bester (2271-2281)

              • Legions of Fire - Book I - The Long Night of Centauri Prime (2262-2266)
              • Legions of Fire - Book II - Armies of Light and Dark (2266-2273)
              • Legions of Fire - Book III - Out of the Darkness (2274-2278)

              • The Passing of the Techno-Mages - Book I - Casting Shadows (11/2258-12/31/2258)
              • The Passing of the Techno-Mages - Book II - Summoning Light (1/2259-2/2259)
              • The Passing of the Techno-Mages - Book III - Invoking Darkness (8/2260-2261)

                Of course, the end of Londo is also the end of G'Kar, so for those who favor him, it's sad as well.

                          The cat-dog relation between Londo and G'kar really spice up the series. Is impossible not to enjoy it. As for G'kar, the character at least Andreas Katsulas is not a blind arab anymore.

                            I've always had a strange attraction to Na'Toth...both of them.
                            Recently, there was a reckoning. It occurred on November 4, 2014 across the United States. Voters, recognizing the failures of the current leadership and fearing their unchecked abuses of power, elected another party as the new majority. This is a first step toward preventing more damage and undoing some of the damage already done. Hopefully, this is as much as will be required.

                              I guess it is good that my wife will not be here when I Read the novels (since they are some emotion moving) so she will not see me cry - you know men do no cry and also she is not a sci-fi fan at all.

                              Regarding G'kar, well it is impossible to love Londo and not to love G'kar they are both two faces for the same coin, like light and shadows.

                              Actually when I was reading "The shadow within" for Cavelos and when I read the line that says "Every light carries a shadow" I remmbered G'kar and Londo
                              immediatly.
